Inter v Bayern Preview
Inter’s Form
Inter were dominant winners of the Serie A last season coming 19 points clear of their bitter rivals Milan. They were also Supercoppa winners though their Champions League Round of 16 elimination was disappointing after reaching the final in 2023. This season they’re having another excellent season leading Serie A by 6 points with 6 games remaining in their season, runners-up in the Supercoppa Italiana and into the Coppa Italia semi-finals.
Inter balanced their commitments across competitions well under Simone Inzaghi and in their weekend win over Cagliari were still able to rest key figures Thuram, Bastoni and Mkhitaryan from the bench among others. This should mean they have a refreshed and ready side for this all-important tie on Wednesday Night and if there’s any side more suited to holding onto a lead in this competition it's Inter.
Ironically, Inter’s last Champions League success came in the 09/10 season when they beat Bayern 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabéu. While arguably stronger back then they still have quality today with Pavard and Bastoni in defence, Barella in midfield and Thuram and Martinez leading the line they’re not short on quality across the park.

Bayern’s Form
Before last season Bayern dominated the Bundesliga winning 11 consecutive titles but in 23/24 they were undone by Leverkusen led by Alonso landing to their first Bundesliga title. That prompted them to sign the likes of Olise, Paulinha and Ito for a net spend of €-67.65m this summer. That spending has hit all the right notes with now in pole position to reclaim the Bundesliga with them 6 clear of Leverkusen with 9 league games remaining.
While Bayern has a strong squad more than capable of overturning the first leg defeat the losses of Davies, Upamecano, Ito, Musiala out and Neuer a doubt will make the task as well as their broader aspirations far more difficult. At the weekend too unlike their opponents, they elected to start effectively a full-strength side so it’ll be interesting to see how their contrasting approaches go head to head.
Though Bayern won a Champions League as recently as the 19/20 season when they beat PSG 1-0 at the Estádio da Luz they’ve arguably underachieved in recent seasons in this competition given the general level of talent their squad consists of.

Key Players To Watch
Lautaro Martinez -Inter
The Argentinian Striker and Inter Captain is one of the most underrated footballers in European Football, despite a record of 27 goals and 7 assists from 44 matches in all competitions this season. This season he has been less prolific but remains effective with 20 goals and 6 assists in 42 games across all competitions.
He can be gotten at 11/2 to score in this game first and 15/8 to score any time in the game.
Martinez anytime goal - 15/8
Harry Kane – Bayern Munich
Despite a red-hot first season for Bayern since signing from Tottenham last season 44 goals and 12 assists in 45 games was ironically not enough to land Bayern any trophy despite their previous Bundesliga dominance.
Kane has continued to be prolific this season scoring 34 goals and assisting 12 times in 41 matches in all competitions. If you fancy him to score in this game he is 9/2 to score first and 11/8 to score anytime.
Kane first goal - 9/2
Inter v Bayern Prediction & Best Bet
Prediction: Inter 0-2 Bayern
Inter may have had fewer shots and possession in the first leg but were more effective and so are very much in the driving seat ahead of this second leg,
Bayern have it all to do in this fixture and come into this following a disappointing draw at the weekend.
This tie is finely balanced but I think Bayern are being underestimated in the odds when it comes to their qualifying chances.
Best Bet: Bayern To Qualify - 21/10
Bayern To Qualify - 21/10
