York’s Dante Festival concludes on Friday and we’ve got five more ITV racing tips from another cracking card on the Knavesmire.

The Group Two Yorkshire Cup is backed up by a couple of Listed-class contests for fillies and two big fields for competitive handicaps.

York Friday Tips

14:20 Tip

14:20 Michael Seely Memorial Fillies’ Stakes – So Regal

Trained by John and Thady Gosden for owner-breeder Cheveley Park, the Kingman filly made an excellent start to the season with two runs resulting in two convincing wins.

So Regal took a Newmarket maiden in April and then followed up with a two-length victory in an Ascot novice at the beginning of this month, a pleasing start to life as a three-year-old after she ran just once at two to come home third at Chelmsford.

Both wins pointed at plenty more to come from the filly, who is out of the mare Queen’s Trust and therefore a full sibling to the Group-placed colt Chancellor.

14:55 Tip

14:55 Supporting Macmillan Charity Raceday on 13 June Handicap – Have Secret

The Yorkshire training team of Richard and Peter Fahey have been in fine form of late, including a successful contribution from this six-year-old, who was claiming a fifth career victory when scoring in a decisive manner at Pontefract last time out.

15:30 Tip

15:30 Marygate Fillies’ Stakes – Lover Girl

Amo Racing have spent big in recent years but appear to have picked up a real bargain with this more modestly priced purchase, who has kept on well from a prominent position to score at Wolverhampton and Salisbury on her two starts to date, prompting a deserved upgrade.

16:05 Tip

16:05 Boodles Yorkshire Cup – Rahiebb (NAP)

The Roger Varian-trained colt can reward connections’ decision to bypass a prior Chester engagement with success in this Group Two event over just short of a mile and six furlongs.

Rahiebb was due to line up in the Ormonde Stakes last week but was withdrawn after concerns about slippery ground on the Roodee, quickly being re-routed to the Knavesmire as a result.

His last start as a three-year-old came in the St Leger at Doncaster, where he was the runner-up behind Aidan O’Brien’s Scandinavia when beaten only a neck.

Prior to that, Rahiebb was fourth in the Gordon Stakes and third in the Queen’s Vase, before which he gained a useful piece of York form when second over a mile and a half.

The son of Frankel has followed an upward trajectory throughout his career and clearly has the class to make his presence felt here, despite it being his first run since a break over the winter.

16:40 Tip

16:40 Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Handicap – Entailed

Gemma Tutty is doing really well with her string at present and this three-year-old daughter of Harry Angel has each-way appeal after a 50/1 third at Thirsk on her first start for the yard since switching from Andrew Balding.
