Punters don’t have to wait long for out bet of the day, as this popular Australian raider is rated a class apart here. While the clock is ticking on her career, Asfoora is a Group One winner who was only beaten two lengths by Mission Central in the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot and she should be hard to beat without a penalty at this lower level.

14:05 NEWMARKET – ARC OLE OLE @ 13/8
Another fine advertisement for the training skills of Newmarket-based South African Dylan Cunha , this three-year-old went to Royal Ascot on a four-timer in the King George V Stakes . He was ultimately fifth but was done no favours by his wide draw, having to drop in at the rear and still having only four behind turning for home, then finding a wall of horses in front of him.
It is to his credit he was as close as he was at the line and while the handicapper has given Arc Ole Ole a 4lb rise, it is likely he has more progress in him.

14:25 SANDOWN – EBT’S GUARD @ 11/1
Does not know how to run a bad race and heads into this contest on the back of a fine fourth in the Royal Hunt Cup , so is clearly still on good terms with himself and the stiff finish should suit.

14:40 NEWMARKET – TIFFANY @ 4/5
After a trio of Group One runner-up finishes, she reappeared in a Listed race at Chantilly , when not doing a lot wrong in again finishing second. Sir Mark Prescott’s mare should be a lot sharper for that and can enjoy a deserved victory in the Lancashire Oaks.

Following a couple of near-misses at Newbury and Goodwood , John and Thady Gosden’s filly is fitted with cheekpieces for the first time as she tries to get home in front.

Just the type with which William Haggas excels and this smooth York scorer looks one to follow in the £125,000 Old Newton Cup before returning to the Knavesmire for an Ebor bid.

15:35 SANDOWN – CONSTITUTION RIVER @ 11/10
The Classic generation has held sway in the Eclipse in recent years and is expected to do so again, as Aidan O’Brien bids for a record 10th win in the race and fourth in a row. Since 2018, the only older horses to get on the roll of honour are Enable and Ghaiyyath – showing just how good they need to be to give 10lb to their younger rivals.
Owen Burrows’ four-year-old Gethin could not beat Ombudsman in receipt of 7lb with the winner nowhere near match fit, so while there is no disgrace in losing to what might be the best 10-furlong horse in the world, it still leaves him a little short in this.
Constitution River completed what many thought was ‘Mission Impossible’ in the French Derby , defying stall 15 at Chantilly , so he can be rated value for much more than the three-quarters of a length margin. He actually meets runner-up Hawk Mountain again, but that stablemate had the run of the race and it is difficult to see how he turns the tables.
