5. Champ Kiely
5. Champ Kiely – 33/1
Mullins saddles four runners in total and this 10-year-old has the most to prove, although he was a surprise 22/1 Grade One scorer here as a novice 12 months ago.
Most recently seen finishing eighth in the Grand National, Champ Kiely is well held on his previous effort in the Irish Gold Cup.
4. Grangeclare West
4. Grangeclare West – 25/1
His form has been very up and down this term but a staying on fourth in the Savills Chase and a decisive defeat of Gerri Colombe in the Bobbyjo at Fairyhouse warrant respect.
Last year’s Grand National third unseated Patrick Mullins at the first fence when returning to Aintree earlier this month, but that will at least mean he is a fresh horse for this contest.

3. Inothewayurthinkin – 10/1
Gavin Cromwell looks to gatecrash the Mullins party with this enigmatic eight-year-old, who was so impressive when breezing past Galopin Des Champs to win last year’s Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Inothewayurthinkin struggled to recapture that sparkle during the current campaign but showed a glimpse of his true ability when plugging on for third in the 2026 blue riband back at Prestbury Park and is certainly a proven spring performer.

2. Gaelic Warrior – 10/11
Did us a big favour when storming home eight lengths clear in the Cheltenham Gold Cup after travelling sweetly throughout under a beautiful ride by Paul Townend.
Gaelic Warrior held his form well late on last term when bagging an Aintree and Sandown double but has endured mixed fortunes in the past at Punchestown when bidding to back up good runs at Cheltenham.
In 2023, he claimed a Grade One novice hurdle at this venue, but 2024 saw him follow up an Arkle success at Prestbury Park with an odds-on defeat here, so some will fear last month’s trip to England may just leave its mark.

Also travelled to Cheltenham but was a late absentee from the Ryanair Chase on account of the ground being too slick, so that could give him a freshness advantage.
Fact To File began this season with a neck second to Gaelic Warrior in the John Durkan here but emphatically turned the tables on that stablemate when winning the Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown by five lengths, finishing with his ears pricked.
There are blips on the nine-year-old’s record, notably in last year’s Champion Chase at this festival and in Kempton’s King George on Boxing Day, when nine lengths adrift of Gaelic Warrior, but he can be so spectacular when on song that we’re giving him our vote.
