Armchair punters can look forward to Classic action this Saturday, with the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket headlining our seven ITV racing tips.
As well as a strong supporting card at headquarters, there are also a couple of Listed contests at Goodwood and the ultra-competitive Thirsk Hunt Cup.
Goodwood Tips
Goodwood Tips Saturday
13:30 – Argentine Tango
A smart filly with strong Listed and Group form, she returned to action at Chantilly to finish a close fourth in the Prix Sigy in mid-April and should be able to step forward with that experience under her belt.
Argentine Tango ran at this venue in the Molecomb last summer, competing against colts to finish a highly respectable second over five furlongs.
She steps up to six this time, but is a winner over the trip previously and looks comfortable switching between the two sprint distances.
14:05 – Blue Bolt
Balding looks to have found this Juddmonte-owned daughter of Blue Point a nice opportunity at Listed level on her seasonal reappearance judged on last October’s runner-up effort behind Fallen Angel in the Group One Sun Chariot Stakes.

13:45 – Double Rush
Showed ability under Charles Hills last term but has clearly flourished from three to four as he was backed as if defeat was out of the question on his first start for Andrew Balding and duly bolted up by almost five lengths. The handicapper has since put him up by a whopping 13lb, so getting in here with just a 5lb penalty means a course and distance double is very much on.
14:20 – The Lost King
The Leicester City connections of King Power Racing could certainly do with a boost and this progressive four-year-old only has to transfer this year’s smart all-weather form to turf to be a major player here.
14:55 Palace House Stakes – Asfoora
Henry Dwyer’s ace Australian sprinter is temporarily in the care of Lemos De Souza, who will no doubt be keen to take full advantage of this arrangement with a good run in the Group Three Palace House Stakes.
A Royal Ascot winner two years ago, Asfoora is penalised for last season’s Nunthorpe and Prix de L’Abbaye triumphs and is the oldest entry here at seven, but these speed horses tend to only get quicker with age and she is so dominant on her day that she gets our vote.
15:35 2000 Guineas – Bow Echo (NAP)
George Boughey has already tasted Classic success with 1000 Guineas heroine Cachet in 2022 and this rising star of the training ranks can now add a 2000 Guineas triumph to his CV.
Bow Echo, owned and bred by the late Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, took to the track three times as a juvenile and was victorious each time.
After a taking Newbury maiden strike on debut, he was stepped up to Listed level at Haydock to win the Ascendant Stakes from the equally smart-looking Publish and then progressed again to land the Group Two Royal Lodge at Newmarket in September.
The Night Of Thunder colt has not had a run this term to limber up for his Classic tilt, but by all accounts, a racecourse gallop down the Rowley Mile only heightened expectations.
Thirsk Tips
Thirsk Tips Saturday
14:40 Thirsk Hunt Cup – Bellarchi
Grant Tuer’s stable is in red-hot form at present and this 11-time winning mare can complete a quick hat-trick in the Thirsk Hunt Cup following a brace of brave victories at Musselburgh.
