Charlie Appleby’s filly heads into this Oaks Trial off the back of an impressive victory in a Kempton novice and looks a promising type, even though she does not hold an Epsom entry at present.
Romantic Symphony is beautifully bred, with her siblings including Breeders’ Cup Turf ace Yibir and multiple Group One winner Wild Illusion, and the early signs are she can uphold family honour.
13:58 Lingfield Derby Trial – Maho Bay (NAP)
Godolphin’s unbeaten Dubawi colt can stretch his winning streak to three in the Listed-class Lingfield Derby Trial.
After making a fine start to his career with a six-length win on debut at Kempton in December, Maho Bay followed up with another comfortable victory in a Newmarket novice last month.
This represents a step up, with Irish raider Isaac Newton a proven performer in good company and the William Haggas-trained Maltese Cross showing plenty of promise, but Appleby’s charge looks to have enough scope to deliver again on his path to Epsom.
14:40 Chartwell Fillies’ Stakes – Royal Velvet
William Knight will be happy with the form of his string and this five-year-old is fancied to give him a Group Three success in the Chartwell Fillies’ Stakes.
Royal Velvet earned a move up in class when powering home in impressive fashion to claim her eighth career victory in an 18-runner Newmarket handicap last month and should have a fitness advantage over her main market rivals.

14:20 Victoria Cup – Great Acclaim
The Carey Group Victoria Cup can go the way of Eve Johnson Houghton’s charge, who ran creditably when beaten only half a length in a strong Haydock handicap 14 days ago.
This son of Aclaim has been placed in hot contests over this course and distance before and the first-time application of a visor may give him the edge over his rivals.
