This will be just his third run for Ed Walker, having been trained in France in his younger days , but a third behind Zavateri last time out was a good effort and he looks a value selection in a tricky Doonside Cup .

14:12 NEWBURY – ARAPAHO GOLD @ 6/5
Despite carrying a penalty for his relatively cosy success in the Gimcrack at York , Michael Dods’ stable star just has the look of a good thing in the Group Two Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes . Early in his career, Arapaho Gold had something of a problem in the stalls, but those issues now seem to be ironed out and he was very professional on the Knavesmire, so it will be disappointing if he fails to remain unbeaten.

14:47 NEWBURY – BALZAC @ 11/2
Jane Chapple-Hyam has booked Ryan Moore for her three-year-old in the Dubai Duty Free Handicap in a bid to get his nose back in front. Balzac has been set some stiff tasks since scoring nicely at Kempton at the start of April, not least in the Derby , but went close in a decent handicap at Ascot when last seen.

15:05 AYR – SILENT BEAUTY (NAP) @ 6/4
Kevin Philippart De Foy could do with a standout performer and this may be just the one judged on her taking victory in a Listed race at Ripon last month. A debut winner at Yarmouth by four lengths from Scommessa Sicura , who was second in the May Hill last week, Silent Beauty bombed out in the Albany at Royal Ascot but the ground was very fast that week.
After subsequently missing a race in Ireland, she was not seen again until Ripon ’s big event on Bank Holiday Monday , where she was entitled to win on ratings but it was hard not to be impressed with the manner of that triumph.

15:40 AYR – TWILIGHT CALLS @ 8/1
Richard Spencer has worked wonders with this eight-year-old, who is back running to a very high level after a spell in the wilderness and can help cap a magical seven days for Saffie Osborne with an Ayr Gold Cup success , just a week on from the jockey’s historic St Leger triumph . Back in his days with Henry Candy, Twilight Calls was a Group One sprinter , with a second at Royal Ascot a career best. He joined Spencer in April 2025 but went winless last season and his mark continued to drop after a few runs in Dubai.
However, in a first-time visor, Twilight Calls won at Sandown in June off 80 and has not run a bad race since, rising to 96 to sneak in right at the bottom of the weights for this £180,000 cavalry charge. Osborne admitted to hitting the front too soon when the partnership were second in the Portland last weekend , so do not expect to see them up there early, but with a favourable high draw, a good run looks assured .
