The mount of Japanese ace Yutaka Take can make the long trip down from Lanarkshire a worthwhile one in the Shergar Cup Stayers . After winning at Thirsk over this two-mile trip, a 69-day break will have kept the seven-year-old fresh and shrewd handler Jim Goldie knows the time of day.

14:25 HAYDOCK – SALLAAL (NAP) @ 10/11
The Roger Varian -trained son of Frankel is bidding for a hat-trick when he steps up to Group Three company for the first time in the Rose of Lancaster Stakes . Sallaal was second on his seasonal reappearance in an Epsom handicap, being left with too much to do in the way things panned out but catching the eye when finishing strongly.
He recouped those losses when winning back at the same track on Oaks day, hitting the front a furlong out and pulling away to come home six and a half lengths clear. That earned him a chance back outside of handicaps in the Listed Gala Stakes at Sandown and Sallaal struck at that level at the fourth time of asking, running on well to beat Persica into second.
Upped in grade again, the four-year-old looks markedly improved for his gelding operation and can continue to progress.

15:00 HAYDOCK – FALLEN ANGEL @ 8/11
The five-time Group One winner was last of four on her only outing this season at York , with trainer Karl Burke being frustrated by the hot summer with a filly that prefers some cut in the ground. However, with Haydock watering as they prepare to host racing again following track remedial work, Burke may have found the right opportunity for the five-year-old to get back on track at Listed level.

15:55 ASCOT – HOSEKI
The Saxon Warrior filly struck for the first time at Redcar in May when stepped up to a mile and a quarter, before following that up with another trip to the winner’s enclosure off 5lb higher at Chester .
William Haggas tried a mile and a half at Ascot last month, where she held off Nochebuena by a short head, and despite another 5lb rise for that, she should have enough in hand to complete a four-timer in the Shergar Cup Classic with Saffie Osborne on board.
