The Doncaster Cup is the highlight of a strong card, backed up by more Group Two action in the Flying Childers Stakes for speedy juveniles.

Having cost 1,000,000gns as a yearling, Roger Varian and Godolphin will rightly have high hopes for this son of Blue Point , who did exactly what connections wanted to see at Yarmouth on his introduction. The invariably measured Varian spoke quite highly of Rock Montreal afterwards and it is likely to be the Dewhurst next if all goes to plan in the Listed Flying Scotsman Stakes .

The Wathan Racing -owned juvenile ran a huge race to be narrowly beaten by the top-notch Arapaho Gold in the Gimcrack at York when last seen, which represented a career best. Gelded after finishing a far-from-disgraced seventh in the Coventry Stakes , he enjoyed a confidence-boosting win at Thirsk prior to his effort on the Knavesmire , where he handled the rain-softened surface with some aplomb.
A strong mover, this will be his first try at the minimum trip in the Flying Childers Stakes but there is no reason it will be a hindrance, and neither will the ground.

15:00 DONCASTER – QUEENSTOWN (NAP) @ 2/1
Aidan O’Brien’s six-year-old can position himself as a serious back-up to Gold Cup -winning stablemate Scandinavia with victory in the Doncaster Cup . The Galileo gelding returned from 300 days off the track to beat Royal Ascot winner Kizlyar in the Group Three Irish St Leger Trial at the Curragh last month.
That was his first run since finishing second in the Prix Royal-Oak last October and before that he was third to Caballo De Mar in the Cadran on Arc weekend. Queenstown’s form definitely bears pretty close inspection, as he was also third in last year’s Ebor and twice runner-up to former staying king Kyprios in 2024, plus he is proven on ground with ease in it.
The George Scott -trained Caballo De Mar lines up against him again, but he now has questions to answer after disappointing experiences at Ascot and York , having a particularly tough day at the Royal meeting.

There might be a swift double to be had for Wathnan , with this rapidly-improving sort going for a four-timer in the British Stallion Studs EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap . Going up in distance has very much been the making of the William Haggas -trained three-year-old and while this will be the furthest Silver Lake has gone so far, the way she won at York last month suggests she will not be beaten for stamina.
