Paddy Twomey ’s juvenile has been costly to follow so far, coming home a beaten favourite on all three starts, but he has shown promise on each occasion and shrewd co-owner Tony Bloom will be hoping a gelding operation proves the key to recouping those losses.

Denis Hogan ’s eight-year-old heads into this beginners chase with plenty of experience after his sixth spin over fences resulted in a staying on second to Pinot Gris at Wexford and he may again repay each-way support.

Willie Mullins is predictably having a good week, especially after the Galway Plate success of King Alexander , and the Closutton maestro again has multiple strong entries in this valuable handicap chase. More established jockeys are engaged elsewhere, but Simon Torrens gets on well with this JP McManus-owned mare , who deserves a change of luck after being headed on the run-in for a second straight runner-up placing at Punchestown last time.

18:35 GUINNESS HANDICAP – THREAD OF GOLD (NAP)
We’re also siding with Mullins to do the business in the evening’s big Flat race, as this lightly-raced three-year-old son of Ghaiyyath definitely seemed to be going in the right direction when scoring at Leopardstown recently. Thread Of Gold was held up at the back over nine furlongs that day but made steady headway on the outer before coming through to take control late on in a very taking manner, so stepping up in trip again to a mile and a half should be no problem.

As a half-sister to six winners, including high-class mares Hydrangea and Hermosa, it is disappointing to see Aidan O’Brien ’s Frankel filly still a maiden after five outings, but a Fairyhouse second last time out was her best effort to date and the Coolmore camp will be determined to get a win into her.

19:40 – FEMME BEAUTY
After serving Ken Condon well with two pillar-to-post wins this term, notably bolting up by a healthy margin at Ballinrobe on her most recent start, this three-year-old filly looks a nice recruit for Gerard O’Leary and can hopefully continue on an upward curve for new connections.

20:10 – GOIN’
Tony Martin ’s charge hasn’t really appeared to enjoy his last couple of spins over hurdles, so switching back to the Flat seems a wise move, with his most recent effort on the level being a fair third at Haydock . Any extra rain would also aid his cause.

Joseph O’Brien ’s seven-year-old boasts a Royal Ascot success among his three career victories and returned to action after having some issues last term with a nice Limerick third six weeks ago, so he now looks well placed to capitalise on being well clear of these rivals on official ratings.
