Tribes Tuesday at the Galway Festival promises to be a real fun affair for those attending, but we’re focusing on the action on the racetrack itself.
There are eight great races to get stuck into, both over jumps and on the Flat, so let’s hope we can find a few winners in our Galway Festival day two tips :
16:40 Tip
16:40 – GOMEZ ADDAMS @ SP
Henry De Bromhead’s charge is bred for the job as a half-brother to four winners, notably the smart nine-time scorer Twinjets , and made a great start to his career with a fine bumper triumph at last year’s Galway Festival .
After disappointing at Leopardstown over Christmas , Gomez Addams got back on track by beating a big maiden hurdle field at Listowel in a cosy manner and everything suggests there is lots more to come from him.
17:10 Tip
17:10 – FRANKIE JOHN @ SP
Another former bumper winner at this venue, Denis Hogan thought enough of the Walk In The Park gelding to try him in a series of Grade One novice hurdle races last season and he looks one to consider now sent over fences for the first time.
17:45 Tip
17:45 – FORT RANDALL @ SP
Noel Kelly has done well with this seven-year-old since picking him up from Shark Hanlon , with some nice bets landed in a Kilbeggan handicap hurdle before a convincing Cartmel victory over larger obstacles, and he may not have stopped improving yet.
18:15 Tip
18:15 – ARGENTARIUS @ SP
As the action switches to the Flat, this daughter of Pinatubo is fancied to build on a promising debut second at Cork , where she recovered from jinking right out of the stalls to be prominent throughout and only went down by half a length to Ballinea Star , who has since followed up in a Group Three.
18:45 Tip
18:45 – HARDY WARRIOR (NAP) @ 6/1
We’re sticking with Joseph O’Brien to land the featured Colm Quinn BMW Mile Handicap , which offers a first prize of more than €70,000. Hardy Warrior had some useful form as a juvenile, chasing home Benvenuto Cellini at Leopardstown before finishing fourth in Group One company in France , and returned to action with an easy success at Naas .
He has since finished a fair third at ParisLongchamp and did not get much luck in running when fourth at odds-on in a valuable Gowran Park affair, so let’s keep the faith and back him to prove a class apart on this handicap bow.
19:15 Tip
19:15 – GREAT MOVER @ SP
Failed to last home over 10 furlongs at the Curragh last time when having her third outing in June, but two previous placed efforts at Leopardstown suggest she is worth sticking with now dropping back down to seven after a nice little break to freshen up.
19:45 Tip
19:45 – ALMEIYDA @ SP
Dermot Weld’s filly has taken a while to get the hang of the racing game but the penny looked to have dropped when she went down by just a neck to market leader Elusive Echo at Roscommon last time out and this is a decent chance to build on that promising display.
20:15 Tip
20:15 – SAN AER
After failing to fire on his first four starts of the season, the eight-year-old put in a much more encouraging effort when a 33/1 fifth at Killarney , where he ran on well after being forced to wait for room two furlongs out.
Although San Aer has not tasted success since October 2023, it is notable that the last two of his four career wins were over this course and distance and he has slipped down to a dangerous handicap mark 7lb below the level he was at for both of those victories.
