The Chester Cup is always one of the biggest betting heats of the entire Flat season, and that marathon handicap features among our six ITV racing tips for Friday.
Four more races from the Roodee include the Group Two Huxley Stakes , while punters can also get stuck into a competitive affair at Ascot .
Friday ITV Tips
13:30 Tip
13:30 Chester: Clouds Hill (Non-Runner)
Charlie Johnston has his string in excellent form and can add to his win tally with this lightly-raced four-year-old. The Cracksman colt scored with plenty in hand when making all on his first start over a mile and a quarter at Yarmouth last week, and it is no surprise connections have opted to turn him out quickly under a 5lb penalty. If Clouds Hill can get to the front from a slightly wider draw than is ideal, he will take some pegging back.
13:50 Tip
13:50 Ascot: Albaydaa
William Haggas ' charge ran creditably enough when third in a competitive Newmarket handicap last month, and the way she was keeping on in the closing stages, coupled with her pedigree, suggests the Pinatubo filly is likely to benefit from the return to seven furlongs.
14:05 Tip
14:05 Chester: Joulany
Ralph Beckett 's colt is a full-brother to smart stayers Al Aasy and Align The Stars and is taken to uphold family honour with a maiden success now stepping up in trip again after a promise-packed third behind Derby entry Maltese Cross at Newbury .
14:35 Tip
14:35 Chester: Lambourn (NAP)
The son of Australia emulated his sire by winning the English and Irish Derbies last term, and although he came up short in the final two races of his Classic year, he was only beaten three lengths in the St Leger and has less on his plate dropping back to Group Two level in the Huxley Stakes .
This 10-furlong trip might be on the short side for Aidan O'Brien 's charge, but it will still be a surprise if a return to the site of his impressive Chester Vase victory 12 months ago does not see Lambourn get back to winning ways, with cheekpieces fitted for the first time.
15:05 Tip
15:05 Chester: Galileo Dame
The Chester Cup can often go to a good dual-purpose horse, and Joseph O'Brien 's mare may fit the bill this year. Galileo Dame was last seen finishing second in a competitive Navan handicap over a mile and six furlongs in March and has proven stamina from her efforts over hurdles, including a half-length second over two and a half miles in December .
O'Brien has a strong hand in the £170,000 feature, also saddling A Piece Of Heaven and Irish Cesarewitch winner Puturhandstogether , who has been struggling in competitive handicap hurdles of late but merits plenty of respect back on the level. The Ewan Whillans trained hat-trick seeker Team Player is another worth a mention, but with Ryan Moore booked for the ride, Galileo Dame gets the vote.
15:40 Tip
15:40 Chester: The Good Biscuit
Ruth Carr does a great job with busy sprinters such as this gelding, who has already scored five times from 27 starts and is knocking on the door for another triumph, judged on last month's placed efforts at Catterick and Pontefract .
