Punters eye future targets for Henderson star
All eyes will be on Constitution Hill as he bids to justify hot odds-on favouritism to make it two-from-two on flat with a victory at Kempton this Wednesday.
BOYLE Sports makes the former Champion Hurdler a runaway 1/6 favourite to follow up his impressive flat debut at Southwell last month, where he scored impressively by nine-and-a-half lengths to trigger a rethink in career path from trainer Nicky Henderson.
Returning to Kempton, where he has already enjoyed success over hurdles, the Seven Barrows stable star faces seven rivals, with his biggest market danger deemed to be Andrew Balding’s four-year-old Classical Allusion (4/1), who won on his sole outing to date on the all-weather at Southwell in September.
Beyond Wednesday’s contest, punters are already looking ahead to what could be an ambitious Flat campaign for Constitution Hill. He is currently a 20/1 shot for the Melbourne Cup in November, while odds of 4/1 are available on him landing a Group 1 prize in Britain or Ireland.
Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BOYLE Sports, said:
“Constitution Hill really caught the eye at Southwell and we’re not alone in expecting more of the same at Kempton. He looks like a shoo-in at 1/6, but what’s really creating a buzz amongst punters is what comes next and whether that’s the Ebor, Melbourne Cup or a Group 1 assignment, he’s a horse they’ll be very keen to keep onside.”
