Aidan O’Brien’s four-year-old can boast three wins from 14 starts but has presumably been supplemented to act as a pacemaker after finishing a well-beaten seventh in Listed company at Leopardstown last Sunday.
9. Dancing Gemini – 40/1

Roger Teal’s stable star was beaten just a neck by Lead Artist in last year’s Lockinge and went on to finish a fine third in the Prix Jacques le Marois but has struggled since, including when last of six at Sandown on his seasonal reappearance, in a prep race he won 12 months earlier.
However, Teal is hoping cheekpieces can inspire a return to form, saying: “All looks good with him, Rossa (Ryan) rode him in some work on Tuesday morning and was very pleased with how he felt, so it’s all systems go.”
8. Cicero’s Gift – 33/1

Last season’s shock 100/1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes winner is out to spring another Group One surprise and was not disgraced in fourth on his comeback run at Sandown.
Charlie Hills would like some more rain but said: “We were happy with his first run, we thought he ran well and he worked very well on Tuesday morning too, so I am delighted with him.”
7. Jonquil – 16/1
7. Jonquil – 16/1
A winner of the Greenham at Newbury last term before going close in the French 2000 Guineas, Andrew Balding’s charge enjoyed a nice confidence boost when landing the Listed Paradise Stakes at Ascot recently.
This represents a step back up in class, but Balding said: “He’s a horse we’ve always thought a lot of and one I’d hope will prove very competitive in a Group One at some stage this year.”
6. More Thunder – 10/1
6. More Thunder – 10/1
Impressed at shorter trips during a run of four wins in five outings last term, rising up from handicaps to a Group Two Hungerford Stakes success at this venue before getting bogged down in very soft ground in the Prix de la Foret, so can’t be ruled out if coping with a step up in distance.
5. Sahlan – 10/1
5. Sahlan – 10/1
The French raider had The Lion In Winter half a length behind in third and Dancing Gemini back in ninth when claiming Group One honours at ParisLongchamp last September and went on to finish a respectable fifth in the Breeders’ Cup Mile at Del Mar.
“There has been some solid each-way support for Sahlan from the powerful Francis-Henri Graffard stable, but we’ve struggled to separate the principals at the head of the market. Damysus is shading favouritism by a whisker, however it’s a really competitive renewal and we couldn’t be certain of who will be favourite come the off on Saturday.”
Trainer Francis-Henri Graffard is a real growing force on the world stage and Violaine de Barmon, head of racing operations for owners Al Shaqab in France, commented: “Sahlan has had a good winter and has been working well.”
4. The Lion In Winter – 11/2
4. The Lion In Winter – 11/2
Last year’s tilt at Derby glory proved too much of a stamina test but the son of Sea The Stars put in some rock-solid efforts once dropped down in trip, being placed in Group One events at Deauville, ParisLongchamp, Ascot and Del Mar.
Warmed up for this race with a Leopardstown Listed win and red-hot handler O’Brien insisted: “We haven’t seen the best of The Lion In Winter yet. If we get the right set-up for him, we might see it. I think he’s come forward from Leopardstown – he needs to, but I think he has.”
3. Notable Speech – 7/2
3. Notable Speech – 7/2
Charlie Appleby’s charge is a proven performer at elite level, landing the 2000 Guineas and the Sussex Stakes at three and last term taking top honours in the Woodbine Mile and the Breeders’ Cup Mile thanks to his devastating turn of foot late on.
Was only fourth in this race 12 months ago but this time has the benefit of a prep run at Keeneland, where he was repeatedly denied a clear run in fourth.
2. Damysus – 5/2
2. Damysus – 5/2
John and Thady Gosden’s colt recovered from a disastrous Derby spin to sign off last term with a Deauville and Newmarket double and was an eye-catching winner back at HQ on his first start of 2026 in the Group Three Earl of Sefton Stakes.
Those victories were over slightly further and Richard Brown, racing adviser for owners Wathnan Racing, said: “I think he will be versatile between a mile and 10 furlongs, but the timing is right and it’s obviously a very prestigious race and it fits nicely.”
1. Zeus Olympios – 10/3
1. Zeus Olympios – 10/3
After being unraced at two, the Night Of Thunder colt was unbeaten in four outings last season, culminating in a visually impressive Group Two strike at Newmarket.
Tasted defeat for the first time when third on his return to action but Karl Burke declared: “He’s in great form and will definitely come on fitness-wise for his run at Sandown. It’s an open-looking Lockinge and I’ve not lost any confidence in him for getting beat.”
