ITV Horse Racing Tips – Saturday

Doncaster 13:25 Tip

Doncaster 13:25 – Dream Shadow

Fergal O’Brien’s mare was unfortunate to run into a smart rival in La Conquiere on her hurdling debut at Uttoxeter but lost nothing in defeat that day and gained compensation with routine victories at Warwick and Ayr.

Dream Shadow was thrown in at the deep end in the Grade Two Jayne Seymour last time out and definitely did not disgrace herself in fourth, so a bold showing is expected at Listed level with that experience behind her.

Kelso 14:15 Tip

Kelso 14:15 – Starmount

Ben Pauling’s charge heads to Scotland on the back of a comfortable 15-length triumph at Wetherby last month, having finished fourth in Grade One company at Aintree on Boxing Day before that.

Starmount steps back up in class for the Grade Two Premier Novices’ Hurdle and the feeling is that he will be better prepared this time.

Doncaster 14:30 Tip

Doncaster 14:30 – Dartmoor Pirate

Anthony Honeyball’s progressive gelding still holds entries for the National Hunt Chase and the Kim Muir at Cheltenham and can again showcase his credentials in the Grimthorpe Handicap Chase.

Dartmoor Pirate followed up a decisive victory at Lingfield by plundering a valuable prize in the Great Yorkshire at this venue and his running style suggests returning to Town Moor over a slightly longer trip will only aid his hat-trick quest.

Kelso 14:55 Tip

Kelso 14:55 – Captain Hugo

The Philip Hobbs and Johnson White-trained six-year-old enjoyed an impressive start to life over obstacles, scoring at Newbury and Haydock either side of finishing second to Cheltenham hopeful Taurus Bay.

Captain Hugo was prominent when taking a tumble three out at Musselburgh earlier this month and if that has not left a mark, he can bounce back by playing a leading role in the Morebattle Hurdle.

Newbury 15:45 Tip

Newbury 15:45 – Vincenzo

Sam Thomas has a second crack at the Greatwood Gold Cup with his ultra-consistent eight-year-old, who briefly led after the last in this contest 12 months ago before finishing runner-up to Booster Bob.

Vincenzo kicked off the current campaign with another couple of rock-solid seconds in valuable Cheltenham events and claimed a much-deserved success at Ascot on his most recent start.

Having been placed first or second in seven outings over fences, it would be a surprise if he isn’t there or thereabouts once more.
