Ascot Tips, Haydock Tips & Wincanton Tips – ITV Racing Saturday
Wincanton 13:35 Tip
Wincanton 13:35 – Alexei
Joe Tizzard’s charge followed up impressive handicap wins at Ascot and Cheltenham with a valiant third under 12st last time out and now gets a deserved step up in class for the Grade Two Kingwell Hurdle.
Ascot 13:50 Tip
Ascot 13:50 – Thomas Mor
The lightly-raced nine-year-old followed home classy Irish raider Kitzbuhel in Grade One company at Kempton on Boxing Day and is fancied to go one better in the Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase.
Already a winner over hurdles and fences at Ascot , Thomas Mor has been found another nice opportunity by training duo Philip Hobbs and Johnson White.
Haydock 14:05
Haydock 14:05 – Kabral Du Mathan
Has been a revelation since joining Dan Skelton’s yard, winning a valuable handicap at this venue before landing the Relkeel Hurdle at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day.
Kabral Du Mathan now moves up to three miles for the Grade Two Rendlesham Hurdle but his strong-running style suggests that won’t pose any problems.
Haydock 14:40 Tip
Haydock 14:40 – Ubatuba
Bought for £85,000 after landing an Irish point-to-point, Olly Murphy’s six-year-old has looked a shrewd recruit in posting two wide-margin wins at Leicester and has the potential to progress even further now facing much tougher opposition.
Ascot 15:00 Tip
Ascot 15:00 – Nocte Volatus
Tom Lacey’s 11-year-old has been in great form this season, winning his last two starts at Warwick and Sandown respectively, and a 2lb rise should not inconvenience him too much in this hat-trick bid.
Haydock 15:15 Tip
Haydock 15:15 – Deafening Silence
Skelton has built up a huge lead in the trainers’ championship thanks partly to a series of positive results in lucrative Saturday handicaps and can strike again in this Grand National Trial.
Deafening Silence hit the woodwork when placed in the Rehearsal Chase and the Welsh Grand National, but did not disappoint in either contest and deserves to pick up a top prize.
Ascot 15:35 Tip
Ascot 15:35 – Jonbon
Nicky Henderson’s popular star targets a 12th Grade One victory in the Ascot Chase and is taken to get the better of last year’s winner Pic d’Orhy and venerable veteran Edwardstone.
Jonbon is unbeaten on three visits to the Berkshire circuit during his illustrious career, most recently when successfully defending his Clarence House Chase crown last month.
This represents a step up in trip to 2m 5f, but the JP McManus-owned 10-year-old looks in need of that extra distance these days and should be too hot to handle.
