Irish duo odds-on for Conference League
Shamrock Rovers and Shelbourne are both being heavily backed to seal spots in Europe this season as they prepare to defend leads in the Europa Conference League on Thursday night.
Shelbourne edged out the Irish Premiership champions Linfield in a Champions League qualifier last month, but having dropped down to a Conference League playoff, Joey O’Brien’s men are now in pole position to see off the South Belfast side in a rematch after bagging a 3-1 lead in an action-packed first leg at Tolka Park.
Historic Night For Irish Football
BOYLE Sports rates Shelbourne 1/8 shots to progress to the group phase ahead of the Windsor Park showdown, while current Premier Division leaders Shamrock Rovers are also odds-on favourites to get past Portuguese side Santa Clara.
Stephen Bradley’s side came from behind to score a famous 2-1 victory on the road last week against the side who finished fifth in the Primeira Liga last season, and are now 2/5 to book a berth in another European league stage in front of home fans in Tallaght.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BOYLE Sports, said:
“It’s a huge night for both Shamrock Rovers and Shelbourne, but the weight of local support is behind them and punters are expecting dual Irish representation in the Conference League.”
