The BOYLE Sports Champion Stakes Final is set to take place this Saturday at 9pm, with €20,000 going to the winner!
Seven Beach won the event last year for trainer Jennifer O'Donnell , winning in 29.39, but the 2025 champion has since retired, so 18 greyhounds instead went into this year's semi-finals looking to win the competition.

Form
Trained by Mark Robinson , last year's Juvenile Derby champion reached the quarter-finals of this year's English Derby before returning to Ireland , backing that up with a flying trial ahead of the Champion Stakes . He duly ran the race of his life in the semi-final, chasing home a rampant Ballymac Kamala to qualify in second, beaten five lengths in 29.25.
Verdict
Shortened from 16/1 to 8/1 after that semi-final and now into 6/1, with Bouncing Monarch's withdrawal freeing up a bit more of the market. Still reads more like place money than win money for me.
Ballymac Kamala
Trap (2) Ballymac Kamala — 15/8
Odds
Ballymac Kamala is priced at 15/8, which gives her a 34.8% chance of winning the Champion Stakes Final on Saturday — clear second favourite.

Form
The Liam Dowling -trained bitch became only the fourth greyhound to break 28 seconds at Shelbourne Park on three separate occasions during a five-race winning streak earlier this year, form that made her favourite for the Irish Oaks final, in which she was run out of it late to finish third.
Dropped back in for the Champion Stakes on her first run since, and running from trap six for the first time, it made no difference — she led throughout to record the fastest of the three semi-finals in 29.25, holding off Getup The Boy by five lengths with well-fancied Epic Ace back in the pack.
Verdict
She's shortened all the way from 12/1 before the semis to under 2/1 now, and that was the form of the best dog in the field on the night. Firmly the biggest danger to the favourite.
Glengar Kane
Trap (3) Glengar Kane — 6/1
Odds
Glengar Kane is priced at 6/1, which gives him a 14.3% chance of success on Saturday.

Form
Trained by Pat Buckley , the Enniscorthy 525-yard track record holder was sent off the 11/10 favourite for his Champion Stakes semi-final from trap two and looked to have done enough when he hit the front off the last bend, only for Sober Barry to fight back and deny him by two lengths in 29.88.
Verdict
Shortened from 8/1 to 6/1 despite losing his semi-final by the minimum — the market clearly rates that run. Best strike-rate of the remaining field (seven winners from nine starts) and fully capable of turning the tables.
Sober Barry
Trap (4) Sober Barry — 14/1
Odds
Sober Barry is the biggest price of the runners at 14/1, a 6.7% chance of the win.

Form
Trained by Karol Ramsbottom for owner Sean Malone , the January 2024 whelp has been building into a genuinely smart performer. His most recent Shelbourne win was a decisive one: eight lengths clear by halfway on a track running .20 fast, he eased to a five-length victory in 28.12 from runner-up Droopys Winsome.
Drawn in a tricky trap five for his Champion Stakes semi-final, he disputed the pace with Coloursaregreen before having to dig deep to repel a strong late challenge from odds-on heat favourite Glengar Kane, getting up to win by two lengths in 29.88 — comfortably the slowest of the three semi-final times.
Verdict
Shortened a touch from 20/1 to 14/1, but the market still isn't fully buying that 29.88 winning time. An interesting price if you think the tactical nature of that heat flattered the clock more than it hurt him.
Bockos Diamond
Trap (6) Bockos Diamond — 11/10
Odds
Bockos Diamond is the odds-on favourite at 11/10, which gives him a 47.6% chance of winning the Champion Stakes Final on Saturday.

Form
Trained by Graham Holland , the 2024 Irish Greyhound Derby champion holds the Shelbourne Park 550-yard track record of 28.94. He returned from an early English Derby exit to win over 525 yards at Shelbourne in 28.28 on 30th May, then followed up with a flying 28.01 solo trial.
Stepped back up to 550 yards for his Champion Stakes semi-final, he broke well from trap six alongside fellow market leader Bouncing Monarch but couldn't live with him under pressure, beaten three lengths into second in 29.30.
Verdict
The dog that beat him in the semi is now out of the race, and the market has swung firmly back behind Diamond's phenomenal Shelbourne record 22 wins from 28 starts.
Odds-on looks about right given the circumstances, even if the actual head-to-head form still reads slightly against him.
