McIlroy Masters Return
McIlroy Back From Break At Happy Hunting Ground
Rory McIlroy is back in action for the first time since his Masters win almost a month ago at the Truist Championship, but he faces a stiff challenge to add to his record-breaking success at Quail Hollow.
The Northern Irishman took his major tally to six with his second successive victory at Augusta and is 10/1 with BOYLE Sports to return with a bang this week in a tournament he has thrived at previously, which is our initial Truist Championship prediction.
The world number two has won the Truist four times during his career — twice as many as any other player — following victories in 2010, 2015, 2021 and 2024.
McIlroy was also runner-up in 2012 and his chances of adding a fifth Charlotte title to his collection on Sunday will be further helped by the absence of world number one Scottie Scheffler.
However, McIlroy will still need to take his A game to North Carolina to overcome a field that includes two of the hottest talents in the game right now as well as defending champion Sepp Straka and seven of the world's top 10.
Dangerous Duo
In-Form Duo Looking To Add To Growing Trophy Hauls
Cameron Young and Matt Fitzpatrick appear to be the two biggest threats to McIlroy, and they are 7/1 and 10/1 respectively to take the win this weekend in our Truist Championship odds.
Young's brilliant wire-to-wire victory at the Cadillac Championship on Sunday, where he finished six shots clear of runner-up Scheffler, continued his blistering form over his last six tournaments.
The USA Ryder Cup player also won the Players in March, as well as finishing seventh at the Genesis Invitational and tied for third at both the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Masters.
The only recent tournament where Young has not really been in contention was at the RBC Heritage, where he finished 25th and 10 shots off eventual winner Fitzpatrick — a player who is in even better form than the 28-year-old American.
The Englishman has risen to a career-high third in the world rankings, one spot ahead of Young, during a stunning run which has seen him win on three of his last four starts — Valspar Championship, Heritage and Zurich Classic of New Orleans — as well as finish runner-up at the Players and 18th at the Masters.
Nobody has won three successive PGA Tour titles since 2017 but 2022 US Open champion Fitzpatrick can rewrite the record books this week.
Straka, who has three top 10 finishes this year, is 12/1 to retain the title he won in the temporary venue of Philadelphia last year, while 2023 and 2024 runner-up Xander Schauffele is 14/1 in our Truist Championship best bets.
