Course Insights
RBC Heritage Course Insights – Harbour Town
Designed by Pete Dye with input from Jack Nicklaus, Harbour Town is one of the most precision-demanding venues on the PGA Tour. Narrow fairways, small contoured greens and a persistent sea breeze off the Calibogue Sound punish any lack of accuracy regardless of distance.
Iron play is the defining skill here. Strokes Gained: Approach is the standout predictive metric. The tight fairways and small greens reward players who find the correct quadrant of the putting surface, not just those who hit it.
The ideal Harbour Town profile is a compact, accurate ball-striker with elite iron play and a sharp short game. It is no coincidence that multiple winners here, including Davis Love III, Matt Fitzpatrick and Scottie Scheffler, all fit that mould.
RBC Heritage Outright Betting Preview
The Masters may be over but the stars have not dispersed. Hilton Head Island plays host to one of the PGA Tour's most popular Signature Events this week, with a no-cut field of 82 including over 50 players fresh off Augusta.
With defending champion Justin Thomas in the field and several players arriving with significant momentum, the 2026 RBC Heritage looks set to deliver another compelling week of golf.
Young To Contend Again At Hilton Head?
Young Looking To Make Most Of Hot Streak At Hilton Head
Newly-crowned Masters champion Rory McIlroy is absent but the stars are out in force for the RBC Heritage, where Scottie Scheffler ( 18/5 ) and Cameron Young ( 12/1 ) are set to lead the charge after their near-misses at Augusta.
World number one Scheffler finished runner-up on Sunday, a shot behind McIlroy after a frenetic final day in which the Northern Irishman had to dig deep again to defend his Masters crown. Scheffler never held the outright lead at any point in the fourth round however, unlike his US Ryder Cup team-mate Young who was two clear after six holes having also been joint leader after the third round.
Young could not hold on to claim his first major, finishing tied for third on 10 under par, but it continued his impressive run of results heading to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The 28-year-old's last four tournaments have seen him finish seventh at the Genesis Invitational, third at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, first at the Players Championship and now third at the Masters, leaving him top of the FedExCup standings ahead of Scheffler.
It was a case of what might have been for Young at Augusta. He trailed McIlroy by six shots after a disappointing opening 73 and then, having got himself into pole position with rounds of 67 and 65, could not capitalise. Of the top 30 finishers, only Jason Day (75) shot a higher score on the final day than Young's 73 after a bogey-bogey-birdie-bogey run before the turn cost him dear.
Young was happy with his efforts, though, saying: "There is no negative to take away other than obviously I would've loved a different result. Gave myself all the chances in the world and just didn't make them.
"I feel like I've gotten really comfortable with my golf and with where I'm at, and I think I just am starting to understand more and more how to handle myself on days like that.
"I feel like I did a good job today. Just was not my day."
Young will now switch his attention to the Heritage, where he finished third on his debut in 2022 and is 12/1 joint-third favourite alongside Matt Fitzpatrick and Russell Henley for victory this week.
Fitzpatrick's Harbour Town Connection
Harbour Town A Happy Hunting Ground For Fitzpatrick
The similarly in-form Fitzpatrick should also be looking forward to his return to Harbour Town Golf Links as he seeks to build on his win at the Valspar Championship and runner-up spot behind Young at the Players.
The Englishman was victorious here in 2023, beating defending champion Jordan Spieth on the third hole of a play-off, and was fourth in 2021 on a course he played as a child on holiday.
Scheffler, who became the first player since 1942 to go bogey-free at a Masters weekend, is the favourite at 18/5 while Xander Schauffele is 11/1 to win the PGA Tour's fourth Signature Event of the season, which will include all of the leading players aside from world number two McIlroy and world number four Justin Rose.
Thomas is 30/1 to retain his title, and although his current form isn't great, with only one top-10 finish in 2026, he has enjoyed recent trips to Harbour Town, finishing fifth in 2024 before lifting the trophy last year after four sub-70 rounds.
