Scheffler & Young lead American charge
Rory McIlroy features prominently in a fiercely competitive betting heat for this week’s PGA Championship at Aronimink, with the world’s top players set to battle it out in the second major of the season.
The Masters champion is priced at 7/1 with BOYLE Sports to keep a historic seasonal Grand Slam in play by lifting the Wanamaker Trophy and taking his career major tally to seven. However, world number one Scottie Scheffler tops the betting at 4/1, having finished runner-up in each of his last three starts and looking primed to go one better in defence of the title he won last year at Quail Hollow.
Cameron Young has emerged as the best-backed player among those yet to win a major, with the in-form American priced at 10/1, while Ludvig Åberg (14/1) is also attracting strong support just behind him in the market.
Irish interest is further represented by Shane Lowry, who is a 50/1 shot and drawing each-way support despite not landing an individual title since his BMW PGA Championship success at Wentworth in 2022.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BOYLE Sports, said:
“Rory McIlroy is red-hot again after his Masters success, and punters are excited to see if he can carry that momentum into another major. But a strong American presence in the betting points to a real test at Aronimink, with Scottie Scheffler and Cameron Young well backed to challenge for the silverware.”
