Homa hopeful

Homa aiming to end title drought

Max Homa will be eyeing the ISCO Championship as a chance to end his three-year title drought after just falling short at the John Deere Classic over the weekend. Homa shot a final-day 64 at TPC Deere Run but ended up having to settle for runners-up spot behind Chris Gotterup , who snatched victory with a brilliant nine-under-par 62.

Nevertheless, that was as close as Homa has come to a PGA title since winning the Farmers Insurance in 2023 and this week’s ISCO Championship offers the former USA Ryder Cup player another great opportunity.

With Gotterup and all the big guns having headed to Britain for the Scottish Open and Open, Homa is second favourite in Kentucky @ 18/1 behind rookie Jackson Koivun (14/1). Homa, who did not qualify for the two Opens after an awful 2025, is the top-ranked player in the field at 73 in the world and will hope the Hurstbourne Country Club suits his game.

The Louisville course took over as tournaments hosts in 2025 and William Mouw’s winning score last year was 10 under par - compared to an average winning score of almost 22 under when the tournament was held at Keene Trace Golf Club previously.

Speaking after the John Deere Classic , where he recorded his first top-three finish since the 2024 Masters , Homa said: “I never really had played well at a place where you got to go deep to win or to contend. I usually avoid places where the scores are 20-under.”

Koivun to bounce back?

The Contenders

Koivun is the 14/1 outright favourite to claim his maiden PGA Tour win this week, but the 21-year-old will need to bounce back from a chastening professional debut at TPC Deere Run . Much was expected of a player who smashed all sorts of college records before turning pro last month, but he missed the cut after rounds of 73 and 70 left him one over.

However, the experience will stand him in good stead and having finished joint 23rd in testing circumstances at the recent US Open while still an amateur, he has shown what he can do. He is 7/2 for a top-five finish in our ISCO Championship betting tips.

Lucas Glover is another player looking to reclaim past glories. Like Homa, the 46-year-old has not tasted victory since 2023 but the former US Open champion was joint leader heading into the final round of the John Deere Classic before finishing third - his first top-10 of 2026.

Of the other hopefuls, David Thompson is 22/1 while South African Christiaan Bezuidenhout is 25/1 as he joins the influx of DP World Tour golfers at this tournament.
