Fleetwood heading to happy hunting ground
Tommy Fleetwood will look to put a disappointing BMW PGA Championship outing behind him as he heads to the scene of some of his greatest triumphs for the FedEx Open de France .
Fleetwood missed the cut at Wentworth after opening rounds of 73 and 74 left him three over at the midway point, although he was not the only big name to suffer with Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka among the early casualties. Fleetwood now has the chance to bounce back at Le Golf National , where he is 7/1 to claim the honours on a course which should hold very fond memories for the Englishman .
It was at Le Golf National where Fleetwood won four of five matches on his record-breaking Ryder Cup debut to help Europe thrash the United States 17.5-10.5 in 2018. The 35-year-old also won the Open de France here in 2017 while he claimed an Olympics silver medal at this course in 2024, finishing a shot behind Scottie Scheffler following the American’s blistering finish.
Le Golf National has undergone a major revamp over the last two years but we’re still backing Fleetwood to tap into his personal feel-good factor at the venue and he is our tip for the title.
The Contenders
Ryder Cup stars eyeing French success
He certainly isn’t the only contender for glory at continental Europe's oldest national open, though. Ludvig Aberg and Matt Fitzpatrick , who were part of Europe’s successful 2025 Ryder Cup team alongside Fleetwood , will also be eyeing victory on the outskirts of Paris this weekend.
Aberg is joint favourite with BOYLE Sports to win his first title in 18 months, with Fitzpatrick also 7/1. Fitzpatrick is coming off a decent showing at Wentworth , where he finished sixth, three shots behind champion JJ Spaun , while 2026 has been his most successful season yet on the PGA Tour.
The 2022 US Open champion won three titles in the space of a month in the US while he was also runner-up at the Players and Canadian Open among eight top-10 finishes. With Rory McIlroy not involved, world number four Fitzpatrick is the highest-ranked player at Le Golf National and he should be in contention and is priced at 21/10 for a top-five finish.
Defending champion Michael Kim is 30/1 to retain the title he won after a stunning finish at Golf de Saint-Nom-La-Breteche last year, becoming the first American winner of the tournament since 1972. It was Kim’s maiden DP World Tour title and he is looking for more of the same this year.
He said: “I’m excited to be coming back to defend my title at this year’s FedEx Open de France. I have amazing memories from last year, and to claim the title really was a dream come true. Hopefully we can make this year a special one too.”
