Tournament Name: Charles Schwab Challenge | Dates: May 28-31
Course: Colonial Country Club, Fort Worth, Texas
| Par: 70 | Yardage: 7,289 | Defending champion: Ben Griffin
We’re previewing the Charles Schwab Challenge as the PGA Tour season continues after last week’s CJ Cup Byron Nelson . The historic Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth is one of the longest-standing PGA Tour venues and 2026 will be the 80th year this event will be staged at the Texas course.
The Colonial underwent a $25million renovation a couple of years ago, returning the course to its original look, and puts the emphasis on accuracy off the tee.

Aberg favourite
Ludvig Aberg is still waiting to break his PGA Tour title duck in 2026 but the in-form Swede has a great chance to end that barren spell at the Charles Schwab Challenge . Aberg started the year slowly, failing to make the weekend at his first two tournaments and then finishing tied for 37th and 20th in his next two outings.
However, it has been a completely different story since finishing third at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March, the 26-year-old recording five top-five finishes and an eighth place in his last seven events, with his other result being T21 at the Masters .
Aberg took a short break after finishing fourth at the PGA Championship but he returns to action in the familiar surroundings of Texas , looking to take advantage of a weakened field as he chases a third PGA title of his career and first in 15 months.
Henley hopeful
The Contenders
Of the world’s top 10, only number nine JJ Spaun will be teeing up at Colonial as the likes of Scottie Scheffler , Rory McIlroy , Matt Fitzpatrick and Wyndham Clark - winner of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson at the weekend after a stunning final-round 60 - sit this one out. Aberg is 8/1 outright favourite with BOYLE Sports to take the honours in his Charles Schwab debut, although the Texas Tech University alumni won’t be the only player eager to make the most of a potentially favourable field.
Russell Henley is second favourite at 14/1 and the US Ryder Cup player’s game, which sees him leading the Tour in Driving Accuracy and Scrambling, should suit the revamped Colonial course, where low scoring could be tricky. Reigning champion Ben Griffin is not in the greatest form but he is 20/1 to become the first player since Ben Hogan in 1953 to win back-to-back titles at Colonial .
Griffin won his first individual PGA title at last year’s event following a dramatic one-shot victory, shooting a one-over-par 71 in windy conditions on the final day to hold off the challenges of Matt Schmid, Bud Cauley, Scheffler and Tommy Fleetwood. Fellow American Rickie Fowler is also 20/1 to claim the tartan jacket on Sunday while Justin Thomas and Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre are both 18/1 and Spaun is 22/1 along with Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama .
