Course Insights
Doral Blue Monster Course Insights
The Blue Monster earns its name. At 7,739 yards it is the longest course on the PGA Tour this season, with water coming into play on 14 holes and four par-5s averaging over 610 yards each — a length comparable only to Oakmont among recent major venues. Designed by Dick Wilson in 1962 and substantially redesigned by Gil Hanse in 2014, the course rewards prodigious power, demands exacting approach play and requires the nerve to take on water hazards repeatedly.
The key skill combination at Doral is distance off the tee paired with precision on approach. Strokes Gained: Off the Tee and Strokes Gained: Approach are both highly predictive metrics here.
The closing stretch is where the tournament is decided. The 473-yard par-4 18th, with water running the entire length of the left side, has witnessed countless collapses and defines what the Blue Monster demands: full commitment on every swing, right to the end.
Scheffler Back To His Best?
Scheffler Back To His Best
Scottie Scheffler will be seeking to translate his improving form into silverware as the PGA Tour returns to an old stomping ground at the Cadillac Championship.
The world number one started 2026 with a bang, claiming victory at the American Express and top-four placings at the Phoenix Open and Pebble Beach, but he then hit an uncharacteristic slump.
His run of 18 successive top-10 finishes — the longest streak in the modern era — ended at the Genesis Invitational in February and his next two outings saw him finish tied for 24th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and 22nd at the Players.
That was a far cry from the staggering form that earned Scheffler 13 PGA titles between March 2024 and September 2025, but the 29-year-old now looks a man back on the rise.
He finished runner-up to Rory McIlroy at the Masters last month, barely a week after his wife Meredith gave birth to their second child, and he followed that up with another second place at the RBC Heritage – finishing one shot back on both occasions including via a playoff at Hilton Head.
Scheffler is now back in action at Trump National Doral in Miami, where he is 14/5 clear favourite with BOYLE Sports to record his 21st PGA title and is our Cadillac Championship prediction.
His biggest threat as the PGA Tour returns to the Blue Monster Course for the first time since 2016 could come from Ryder Cup team-mate Cameron Young, who is in similarly fine touch heading into the event.
The 28-year-old won the Players last month in between third-placed finishes at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Masters, helping him climb to fourth in the world rankings.
He was only able to tie for 25th last time out at the RBC Heritage but will be looking to build up steam again heading into the next month's PGA Championship as he chases his first major.
Young is 9/1 in the Cadillac Championship odds to conquer a field that is missing world number two McIlroy and in-form Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick but otherwise contains most of the sport's leading names.
Rose's Fond Memories
Rose Returns With Fond Memories Of Blue Monster
Collin Morikawa is third favourite at 14/1 as he seeks a sixth successive top 10, while Justin Rose is 25/1 on his first appearance since finishing third at the Masters.
The experienced Englishman has actually tasted success before at Doral, back in 2012, as has Australian Adam Scott , who was champion the last time the tournament was played on the Blue Monster a decade ago.
Scott has made the cut in all of his eight starts in 2026, with his best finish being fourth at the Genesis, and he is 22/1 to finish top of the pile this weekend in our Cadillac Championship tips.
Of the other contenders, American trio Jacob Bridgeman ( 25/1 ), Chris Gotterup ( 18/1 ) and Akshay Bhatia ( 33/1 ) — who between them make up the top seven behind Fitzpatrick, Scheffler, Morikawa and Young in the FedExCup standings — will be looking to rediscover the form that saw them win four of the opening eight tournaments in 2026.
