Scheffler strong favourite
Scheffler primed to go back-to-back?
Scottie Scheffler is the overwhelming favourite to make it two wins from two in the FedExCup play-offs after finally turning a host of near-misses into a crushing victory at the FedEx St Jude Championship. The world number one finished eight shots clear at TPC Southwind to claim the 21st PGA Tour title of his career, but first since January. It is not as though Scheffler had been playing badly, with five-runner up finishes among 11 top-five paydays for him in 2026, but the frustration must have been building for a player who had won 13 tournaments in the previous 24 months.
But the wait is now over as the 30-year-old extended his lead at the top of the FedExCup standings to nearly 1,400 points in Memphis , as well as earning a USD 23million bonus for ensuring he will be top of the season-long points race heading into the Tour Championship. He said: “I felt like a week like this was coming. I felt like I was on repeat all year just being like, hey, I'm playing solid. I'm close. It feels good to be answering some different questions at the end of this week.”
Scheffler is unlikely to have to wait as long to add another trophy to his collection and we think it could well be at this week’s BMW Championship , where he is 12/5. The American is the defending BMW champion and also finished joint runner-up in 2023 to Viktor Hovland , while his cause at Bellerive Country Club could be further helped by rival Rory McIlroy’s poor showing in Memphis . Playing in only his 12th PGA event of the year and first since tying for 40th at The Open , the world number two could only finish in 66th place on eight over par - 25 shots behind champion Scheffler .
McIlroy said: “I guess (it’s) nice to shake the rust off a little bit, but I'm going to have to work pretty hard between now and next Thursday to feel like I have any sort of golf game to compete next week. I'm so far away from where I need to be to even feel like I have a chance.” The three-time FedExCup champion is 10/1 to claim victory at Bellerive , where he has played just once before, with his Ryder Cup team-mate Ludvig Aberg the same odds.

Can Kim challenge again?
Aberg heads to St Louis having recorded top-10 finishes in his last two outings at The Open and St Jude , where a costly third-round 74 ruined an otherwise impressive showing and saw the 26-year-old Swede have to settle for seventh spot. American trio Cameron Young, Sam Burns and Xander Schauffele are all 12/1 for victory, along with England’s Tommy Fleetwood.
Fleetwood is looking to become the first player to win back-to-back FedExCup crowns following his victory at last year’s Tour Championship , which remains the 35-year-old’s only PGA win to date. His compatriot Matt Fitzpatrick , who is second in the FedExCup standings behind Scheffler and was BMW runner-up alongside the American in 2023, is 14/1.
Of the other contenders in a 50-man field, which will be reduced to 30 heading to the Tour Championship , Si Woo Kim could be one to watch at 16/1. The South Korean is without a win in 2026 but was runner-up to Scheffler at TPC Southwind and now has 11 top-10 finishes in 2026 - including three in his last four outings.
