There is a unique feel to this week’s big DP World Tour event, as the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is the only pro-am contest on the schedule and takes place over three iconic courses across four days of action.
Players compete at St Andrews , Carnoustie and Kingsbarns , before those that make the cut battle it out on the closing day back at the famous Old Course of the first-named venue.

Picking out the favourite is hardly an original choice but the Englishman really does tick all the right boxes. The 32-year-old from Sheffield is coming off a comfortable victory at the Open de France , where he was able to coast home three shots clear after matching Seve Ballesteros’ 1985 record for the lowest 54-hole score at continental Europe’s oldest tournament.
This was Fitzpatrick’s fourth tournament victory of 2026, following a trio of PGA Tour triumphs in America , and he has a past history of coming good at this time of the year, with three end-of-season DP World Tour Championship wins to his credit.
Fitzpatrick is also a recent winner of this event, prevailing in 2023, a year after his US Open success, and is well known as a leading links player.

Hatton is one of the players who look set to embark on a rebuilding process after a stint with the LIV Golf League , on which he secured a second tournament win at Valderrama this summer.
The Englishman has always maintained close ties with his old European Tour colleagues, though, notably playing a significant part in last year’s Ryder Cup triumph, so never has much trouble settling back in. His form in this season’s Majors has been solid, finishing T3 at the Masters and T7 at the US Open, as well as playing well in the first half of The Open at Royal Birkdale.
However, it is Hatton’s past record at this event which really sets him apart, with the 34-year-old topping the leaderboard in 2016, 2017 and 2024, as well as finishing second for the third time last year.
Jacob Skov Olesen
JACOB SKOV OLESEN @ 25/1
The Dane has to bounce back from a disappointing effort at the BMW Championship but before that had been knocking on the door with a series of strong results. Olesen was runner-up at the British Masters and then bang in contention at the Irish Open until a closing 73 saw him slip back to T7.
There have also been two other recent top-10 placings and a T16 at the links-based Nexo Championship that was only ruined by a third-round 78, having finished T3 at Trump International in Aberdeenshire the season before.
Taking last week off should have helped the 27-year-old to freshen up and he looks well placed to put in another bold showing after a debut T5 in this event 12 months ago.
