Scheffler favourite
Scheffler to end his title drought?
Scottie Scheffler ’s series of near-misses this season continued at The Open but we fancy the world number one to finally end his title drought this week when he makes his debut at the 3M Open .
Scheffler won six titles in 2025 and looked set to continue that domination when he started 2026 with victory at the American Express in January , but incredibly that remains his only victory this year .
That is despite earning nine top-five finishes since then, including second place at the Masters, RBC Heritage, Cadillac Championship and Travelers . He also bounced back from missing the cut at the Scottish Open - the first time in 79 tournaments he had failed to make the weekend - by finishing joint fourth at the Open on Sunday, three shots behind winner Ryan Fox .
Scheffler must be wondering just what he has to do to get over the line, but he is overwhelming favourite @ 12/5 to claim victory at the 3M Open , where the 30-year-old is the only member of the world’s top 29 taking part.
Scheffler has done well in all three tournaments immediately after a major this season, losing play-offs at the RBC Heritage and Travelers a week after the Masters and US Open r espectively, while he was third at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson following the PGA Championship , so we’re not expecting any hangover from his trip to Britain .
Kitayama eyes more glory
Kitayama looking to continue fine record at TPC Twin Cities
With Open winner Fox withdrawing following his victory at Royal Birkdale, defending champion Kurt Kitayama is second favourite, alongside Maverick McNealy , this week at 18/1 as he seeks to become the first player to win back-to-back 3M Open titles.
Kitayama claimed the second PGA Tour victory of his career here 12 months ago thanks to a stunning display over the weekend in Minnesota . He equalled the course record with an 11-under-par 60 in the third round before clinching victory with a final-day 65, with his 32 birdies overall leaving him joint third for the most in a PGA Tour event.
Kitayama also finished joint sixth in his 3M Open debut in 2024 and he averages 66.5 over his eight rounds at this event, so he clearly knows what it takes to succeed at TPC Twin Cities. The 33-year-old world number 37 finished well down the leaderboard at the Scottish Open and The Open but he has four top-10s to his name in 2026, including at the PGA Championship.
McNealy , meanwhile, has had a fairly consistent season, missing the cut for only the second time in 17 events at The Open, but he has rarely threatened to add a second PGA Title to his 2024 success at the RSM Classic.
Former Masters champion and world number 30 Hideki Matsuyama is 22/1 to walk off with victory in Minneapolis , the same odds as Tom Kim , who won the Scottish Open earlier this month but then missed the cut at the Open.
