BOYLE Sports Sees Market React to Rumours Surrounding Potential Candidacy

Gerry Hutch is now a 12/1 shot with BOYLE Sports as punters begin to look elsewhere for who will replace Paschal Donohoe in Dublin-Central.

‘The Monk’ had been as short as 6/1 in the betting with the bookmaker, trailing only Sinn Féin’s Séamus McGrattan and Social Democrat Daniel Ennis in the market, but Labour’s Lisa Connell has now also leapfrogged Hutch in the race for a seat in the Dáil.

McGrattan remains the likeliest candidate to top the ballot and is now an even-money shot, but it looks like the election could be decided by the narrowest of margins, with Daniel Ennis following closely behind at 6/5.

Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BOYLE Sports, said:

“Gerry Hutch was one of the more eye-catching names when the Dublin Central market first opened, but over the last 48 hours we’ve seen support dry up considerably. He’s doubled in price to claim Paschal Donohoe’s vacant seat, with Séamus McGrattan and Daniel Ennis looking set to battle it out.”
