Speaking exclusively with BoyleSports , Geremi has backed his former side Real Madrid to have what it takes to stop PSG at the Club World Cup this summer.
The two-time Champions League winner has also given if Mbappé regrets his move to PSG, argues Bellingham has a lot to learn and warns Trent on the difference in pressure at Real Madrid
“Fresh Start” For Real Madrid Under Alonso
Real Madrid are a great club and will have a fresh start under Xabi Alonso. The Club World Cup is a chance for the players to redeem themselves after last season and they will have an entirely new philosophy.
PSG will be the favourites, but Real Madrid have what it takes to stop them.
PSG Dominance Not Guaranteed
PSG deserved to win the Champions League, but the hardest thing will be staying at that same level for years to come. Clubs will be more prepared than ever to take on PSG and we might see that at the Club World Cup.
PSG have a very good, young squad. But it won’t be easy to repeat what they did last season. Lots of teams have been champions, but not many have been champions year after year.
We won the Champions League twice with Real Madrid in three years, but it wasn’t easy, and it won’t be easy for PSG.
Mbappe Won’t Regret Madrid Move
Kylian Mbappe made the decision to join Real Madrid and Real Madrid are a much more prestigious club than PSG, even though they won the Champions League last season.
So I think Mbappe will have no regrets about choosing to join Real Madrid and that winning the Club World Cup would ease his pain of missing out on the Champions League last season. He has every chance.
Expectations Of Trent
The mentality at Real Madrid is different to any other club, they will demand the very best from Trent Alexander-Arnold from his debut and that is hard to handle. They didn’t win a major trophy last season so that will add even more pressure, you have to hope that his new teammates will help him rise to the occasion and adapt to his new surroundings.
He has a new manager and new team-mates; it’s about gelling as quickly as possible for Alexander-Arnold or things could get very difficult for him.
Alonso’s Madrid Challenge
Xabi Alonso has already shown that he is a great leader. He showed that at Bayer Leverkusen and that is the mentality he will bring to Real Madrid.
He will bring fresh tactics, qualities and ideas. Real Madrid always have huge players and the most important thing for Alonso will be to manage the egos in the dressing room, to keep all the players looking in the same direction.
If he is to win major trophies that is what he’ll have to do, and it won’t be easy. But he has shown that he knows how to find success.
Bellingham Must Learn!
There are no doubts that Jude Bellingham is an incredible player, but he still has a lot to do.
There have been questions about him when Real Madrid have lost games, he just needs to keep doing what he does best, and I think he will have an even bigger opportunity to impress under Xabi Alonso next season.
If Real Madrid win major trophies next season, it will be down to Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe. They will win trophies at Real Madrid no matter what, that is their mentality, and I think Jude has the same mentality.
Could Bellingham Return To England?
Jude Bellingham is a player that is capable of playing in any league, he has shown that by shining for Real Madrid, he could play anywhere. Will he play in the Premier League one day? He is the only person who can answer that question, but maybe one day he will want a new adventure.
If you ask me, it would be a dream to see him at Chelsea, I’d love to see it. He has what it takes to star in the Premier League, but Real Madrid would be standing in his way.
