Dublin shoppers got a massive surprise today when Game Of Thrones star and newly crowned World’s Strongest Man Thor Björnsson took a stroll up Grafton Street in search of Irish soccer fans wishing to jump ship to Iceland for this summer’s World Cup.
The Icelandic strongman, who famously plays ‘The Mountain’ in the hit series, teamed up with BoyleSports and ex-Republic of Ireland international Kevin Kilbane on Thursday afternoon to answer the Icelandic Government’s cry for nations to get behind their football team in this summer’s tournament in Russia.
To the astonishment of onlookers,
Thor donned an Iceland shirt and unveiled flags outside BoyleSports’ Grafton Street shop, asking passers-by to join #TeamIceland""
...this summer in the unfortunate absence of the Boys In Green from the World Cup.
He even managed to recruit a hoard of shoppers to perform a rousing rendition of the ‘Viking Thunder-Clap’ made famous by Iceland fans during the European Championship Finals in 2016.
As part of our drive to convert the nation into Iceland fans this summer, we have offered customers the chance to win a trip for two to Iceland when they bet €20 or more on a World Cup market involving Iceland via the new BoyleSports App.
The lucky winner will enjoy return flights for two from Dublin to Reykjavik, two night’s stay in 4* accommodation, an official Game of Thrones tour and to top it all off, €500 spending money.
