Gaillard Du Mesnil is the new favourite for the BoyleSports Irish Grand National on Easter Monday following a surge in support for Willie Mullins’ charge.
...have slashed the odds on Gaillard Du Mesnil winning the Fairyhouse showpiece in half from 12/1 from 6/1, making him the new favourite ahead of Max Flamingo at 8/1.
The Francis Casey-trained seven-year-old booked his ticket when beating Bacardys at Thurles in a Beginners’ Chase last month and has now been joined in the betting by Farclas, who has been backed in from 12/1 to hand Gordon Elliott his second win in the race.
“Gaillard Du Mesnil has been competing in esteemed company all season and we’ve had to make him the new favourite at 6/1 from 12/1 given the strong backing he has received over the last 24 hours. Farclas for all the all-powerful Gigginstown House Stud team has come in for sustained support at 8/1 from 12/1 and having skipped Aintree this year, we are sure the Gordon Elliott-trained runner will be very popular to win Ireland’s most historic race at Fairyhouse on Easter Monday. ”
“The ground is currently yielding, good to yielding in places with scattered showers forecast over the next few days. It is gearing up to be another exciting weekend of racing at Fairyhouse with the highlight being the BoyleSports Irish Grand National at 5pm on Monday evening.”
