Dublin odds slashed as Cats crash out
Limerick are now odds-on favourites for All-Ireland glory after John Kiely’s side delivered a statement performance to power past Tipperary and book an eighth successive Munster final appearance.
The Treaty were trimmed into 8/13 (from 11/10) by BOYLE Sports for the Liam MacCarthy Cup after racking up an emphatic 5-27 in their dismantling of the Premier County, teeing up a Munster showdown with Cork in a repeat of last year’s decider.
The Rebels will be underdogs in their bid to defend their provincial crown, according to the odds, despite cruising past Clare at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, with Ben O’Connor’s side also rated Limerick’s main danger for All-Ireland honours as 2/1 second favourites.
Dublin have been the biggest movers in the outright market, with their odds slashed dramatically into 14/1 (from a high of 50/1) after a 1-26 to 0-22 victory over Kilkenny at Parnell Park brought the Cats’ championship to an abrupt end.
The Dubs’ reward is a Leinster Final clash with Galway, where they will once again have to defy the odds, with the Tribesmen installed as 2/5 favourites to progress to the All-Ireland semi-finals.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BOYLE Sports, said:
“Dublin have been the big eye-catchers in the market with a surge in local support triggering a significant cut in their odds. But they have many more hurdles to clear, and Limerick have firmly reasserted themselves as the team to beat according to the majority of punters, who have clearly been won over by the display against Tipperary.”
