Kerry cling on as favourites for All-Ireland glory
BOYLE Sports have trimmed Donegal in the betting for the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship following their impressive victory over Kerry in Sunday’s National League final.
It marked just Donegal’s second Division 1 title and their first since 2007 as they produced a commanding display to see off the reigning All-Ireland champions by 3-20 to 2-10, firmly underlining their credentials ahead of the race for the Sam Maguire this summer.
The result has had a notable impact on the outright market, with Kerry holding on as 6/4 favourites, but Donegal are now hot on their heels at 5/2 (from 9/2), leaving little to choose between the pair as punters eye a potential rematch of last year’s All-Ireland decider.
Mayo are third favourites as they continue their long pursuit of a first All-Ireland title since 1951, while Dublin are rated 14/1 shots to reclaim the Sam Maguire having been relegated from the top tier of the league pyramid.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BOYLE Sports, said:
“Donegal’s league performance has forced a rethink in the betting and there’s now very little between themselves and Kerry at the head of affairs. The Kingdom are holding onto favouritism, but the market momentum is with Donegal in what’s shaping up to be a tight tussle for Sam.”
