Friday Night Live ITV racing tips from Southwell

All eyes will be on Constitution Hill when he makes his highly-anticipated Flat debut at Southwell and Nicky Henderson’s superstar features in our Friday Night Live ITV racing tips.

Seven of the nine races will be broadcast by ITV4 and these are our best bets from those contests for punters to consider.

SOUTHWELL 17:30 – SOMETHING

Having previously scored three times for Jedd O’Keeffe , this Golden Horn gelding put in his best effort from four starts since joining Stuart Williams when a well-backed second at Kempton recently.

In-form victor Dust Cover stayed on strongly to beat our selection that day, but Something also caught the eye making late headway after being hampered two furlongs out.

SOUTHWELL 18:00 – MART

Dylan Cunha does incredibly well with whatever resources he is given to work with and this son of Dark Angel is a prime example, having won seven times in 36 starts since switched to the Newmarket -based handler.

Luke Morris was on board when Mart failed by just a neck to wear down Invincible Speed at Lingfield last month and they are reunited with the five-year-old set to be freshened up by wearing cheekpieces for the first time.

SOUTHWELL 19:00 – MIDNIGHT LION

Jim Goldie’s charge has been getting on famously with apprentice rider Lauren Young , landing a Newcastle double to make it six victories together overall.

His uncomplicated style of running means that Young’s 5lb claim will again be a handy bonus to a gelding who just looks to be getting better and better.

SOUTHWELL 19:30 – CONSTITUTION HILL

Putting up £40,000 in prize money for a novice stakes has resulted in a strong field, including Amo Racing’s recent Dundalk scorer Square Necker and the Willie Mullins-trained Daddy Long Legs.

However, former Champion Hurdle hero Constitution Hill can put his jumping problems to one side and justify star billing for this first start on the level.

Three scary falls in his last four outings over timber have only been punctuated by a below-par Punchestown display, but reports suggest Henderson will have the horse he clearly dotes upon in prime form here and the booking of Oisin Murphy to partner him is another big plus.

SOUTHWELL 20:00 – JUAN LES PINS

Mick Appleby’s veteran sprinter spent the majority of 2024 and 2025 trailing home out of the money but there have been far more encouraging signs in two all-weather spins since the turn of the year.

After just being headed close home at Newcastle , Juan Les Pins picked up another solid bronze medal over this course and distance, despite being denied a clear passage at a crucial point.

Having once been rated as high as 106, this seven-time scorer is now down to a dangerous mark of 76 and the nine-year-old looks capable of taking full advantage for a first success since 2023.
