Austrian Grand Prix Odds & Preview

Oscar Piastri – 13/8

Favourite for the Austrian Grand Prix is the current leader in the Drivers' Championship, McLaren Driver  Oscar Piastri (23), who last time out in the Canadian Grand Prix finished 4th.

He had a breakthrough year on the circuit last season, securing maiden wins on the tour at both the Hungarian Grand Prix and the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and ended up finishing 4th place in the Drivers Championship, five places higher than his debut season in 2023.

Piastri opened the 2025 season with a disappointing 9th finish at the Australian Grand Prix, but since then he hasn’t looked back,  winning 4 of the next 5 races: the Chinese Grand Prix,  Bahrain Grand Prix, Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and the Miami Grand Prix.

Following two winless races where he finished both 3rd in Italy and in Monaco, he finished the clean sweep of Pole Position, fastest lap and overall winner at the Spanish Grand Prix. At the most recent Canadian Grand Prix, he finished 4th despite a late-race collision with his McLaren teammate Lando Norris. On lap 66 at turn 1.

At the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix, Piastri finished in fifth place, finishing behind winner Max Verstappen, Lando Norris and George Russell, who rounded off the podium places and Lewis Hamilton, who finished 4th.

Lando Norris – 9/4

The second favourite for the Austrian Grand Prix is another McLaren Driver, this time Lando Norris, who trails his teammate in the Drivers' Championship by 22 points.

Norris also had a breakout season last year when he finished runner-up in the Drivers Championship with 374 points, only behind winner Max Verstappen for Red Bull, who had 437 points. His best performance came when he won the 2024 Miami Grand Prix.

His 2025 season started in the best way possible at the Australian Grand Prix, taking Pole Position and posting the Fastest lap to win ahead of Max Verstappen and George Russell.  What followed was an ultra-consistent finishing run where 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 2nd, 2nd and 2nd before he won his second race of the season at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Since his success in Monaco, he’s finished as runner-up behind Piastri in the Spanish Grand Prix, but at the Canadian Grand Prix, he didn’t finish following a controversial collision with his teammate, Oscar Piastri.

At the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix, despite battling Verstappen for the lead when they collided on lap 64, he received a five-second penalty for track limits violations and finished as the only DNF.

Max Verstappen – 10/3

The third favourite for the Austrian Grand Prix is Max Verstappen (27), who will be looking for his third race victory of the season following his wins at the Japanese Grand Prix and the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

Despite a close to half a decade of dominance on the circuit ahead of the season, Red Bull were expected to struggle to retain the Drivers Championship and even more so to compete for the Constructors Championship with the Red Bull car finishing 4th fastest in pre-season testing behind McLaren, Mercedes and Ferrari.

Though not the dominant force he has been in previous seasons, his exceptional race craft and experience have helped him stay competitive for Red Bull. Aside from his two race successes, he’s taken Pole Position at the Japanese Grand Prix, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and the Miami Grand Prix.

At the Spanish Grand Prix, he finished 10th following a controversial incident with George Russell. But bounced back at the recent Canadian Grand Prix when he finished runner-up, coming only +0.228s back of George Russell.

Verstappen finished 5th at the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix.

George Russell - 7/1

Another one of the market leaders in the betting ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix is Mercedes Driver, George Russell (27), who sits 4th in the Drivers Championship.

In the 2024 season, Russell performed well, outperforming his teammate Hamilton 19-5 and going on to come ahead of him in the championship. The highlight of the season was when he won winning Las Vegas Grand Prix, leading home a 1-2 for Mercedes.

Russell has gone from strength to strength this season, finishing 4th, 3rd, 5th, 2nd, 5th, 3rd in his opening six races. However, his form then took a drop off, finishing 7th at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, and 11th in the Monaco Grand Prix.

He returned to form at the Spanish Grand Prix, though finishing 4th behind Piastri, Norris and Leclerc, and then won at the most recent Canadian Grand Prix ahead of Max Verstappen.

George Russell won the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix and comes into the event this time in strong form at odds of 7/1; he could be the value play in the market.

Charles Leclerc - 16/1

Next in the betting for the Austrian Grand Prix is Ferrari Driver Charles Leclerc (27).

Ahead of the 2025 season and amid the partnership with Lewis Hamilton, LeClerc stated that he was "ready to win the championship". In the opening race of the season, he finished 8th at the rain-affected Australian Grand Prix due also to a “strategic error”

Following his opening-day disappointment, he’s become more consistent, finishing 5th, 4th, 4th, 3rd, 7th, 6th, and 2nd at his home race, the Monaco Grand Prix.

More recently, at the Spanish Grand Prix, he finished 3rd behind Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, and at the Canadian Grand Prix, he finished in 5th place. Leclerc is never far away from another podium finish.

Charles Leclerc to win - 16/1
