Scotland are back at the World Cup for the first time since 1998 after pipping Denmark in a thrilling winner-takes-all final qualifier last November. It is the ninth time Scotland have reached the finals and will be looking to progress beyond the group stage for the first time in North America.
Here we look at four of the best BOYLE Sports' betting markets involving Steve Clarke’s men this summer.
Scotland to qualify
Scotland to qualify for Round of 32 @ 4/11
Scotland won’t have things easy in their first World Cup appearance in 28 years after being drawn alongside five-time world champions Brazil, reigning Africa Cup of Nations winners Morocco and Haiti in Group C.
The Scots have never gone beyond the first hurdle and have only won four group-stage matches in their history - and never more than one in the same tournament. However, they are 4/11 to break new ground and reach the knockout stages this year thanks to the new format of the extended 48-team tournament, which means the top two in each group will qualify as usual but also the eight best third-placed teams as well.
That gives Scotland a great chance, and beating Haiti - the second-lowest ranked team in the competition - in their opening match would be a huge step towards securing a last-32 berth.
Group Points
Scotland to finish with three points in group @ 5/2
On paper, Scotland would expect to beat Haiti but lose to Brazil and Morocco - who are ranked sixth and seventh in the world respectively.
You can get odds of 5/2 for Clarke’s troops to end up with three points in Group C, which is what we think will happen, while a four-point haul is 13/5 and six points are 9/2.
Scotland have only once failed to pick up any points at a World Cup - in their finals debut in 1954 when they lost both group matches - and it would be a disaster for a repeat showing this time, reflected by odds of 14/1 for losing all three group games, which are the same odds as finishing with five points.

Brazil are the overwhelming 1/4 favourites to win the group with Morocco (7/2) and Scotland (12/1) vying for second spot.
Group C Goals
Group C to produce most goals @ 5/1
Scotland's pool is joint favourite to yield the most goals in the first phase alongside Group E, which includes Germany, Ivory Coast, Ecuador and Curacao . It is not hard to see why goals are expected to be on the agenda in Group C with Brazil and Morocco among the best teams in the competition and Haiti among the worst.
Scotland have also shown they know where the back of the net is. They put four past Denmark to secure their place in the finals and have beaten Curacao 4-1 and Bolivia 4-0 in their last two friendlies ahead of the World Cup.
Scotland's top scorer
Scotland's top scorer at World Cup
Scott McTominay (5/1)
McTominay has become a regular name on the scoresheet for club and country in recent years and he is favourite to top the Scotland scoring charts at the World Cup. The midfielder netted 14 times for Napoli this season and 14 of his 15 Scotland goals have come since March 2023 - having made his international debut back in 2018.
Lawrence Shankland (7/2)
Shankland , 30, has had to bide his time for Scotland opportunities despite a prolific club career and he will be eager make up for lost time . The new Rangers signing struck 20 times in 34 games for Hearts this season and has scored four goals in his last three Scotland appearances, missing the friendlies against Japan and Ivory Coast which both resulted in 1-0 defeats.
Che Adams (7/2)
The Torino striker netted a brace in Scotland’s 4-0 win over Bolivia last time out and he is Scotland’s leading scorer over the last 12 months with seven goals , including a friendly hat-trick against Liechtenstein. His tally of seven goals for Torino this season was three less than he managed in his debut campaign in Italy.
John McGinn (8/1)
The 31-year-old is the leading scorer in Scotland's World Cup squad with 20 goals , although his last came in the Nations League win over Poland in November 2024. He struck 10 goals in all competitions for Europa League winners Aston Villa this season.
