Belgium have been frustrating to follow so far at this World Cup but the make-up of their third Group G game against New Zealand gives them every chance to come good.
The All Whites must chase a win if they are to stay in the competition and that could leave them vulnerable versus a team with the Red Devils’ attacking quality. We like 6/4 for Rudi Garcia’s men to win and over 3.5 total goals for our initial New Zealand vs Belgium prediction.

Darren Bazeley’s side started out as big outsiders to qualify from this pool but showed all of their trademark battling qualities to draw 2-2 with Iran first up, thanks to a double from Motherwell’s Elijah Just. New Zealand then threatened to upset Egypt when an unmarked Finn Surman headed a corner home in the 14 th minute. The Pharaohs looked like a different team in the second half, however, with strikes from Mostafa Ziko , Mohamed Salah and Trezeguet giving them a 3-1 victory.
“ Egypt upped the tempo and we couldn’t replicate what we were doing so well in the first half. Ultimately, that hurt us,” said Bazeley . “We’re still one game away from making history, but we know we have to beat Belgium now.”
The Kiwis have begun well enough but then tired late on in both of their matches, so a BOYLE Sports price boost of 10/3 for Draw HT/Belgium FT is added to our World Cup tips today.

The Red Devils looked flat-footed early on against Egypt when falling behind on 19 minutes but the second-half introduction of Romelu Lukaku helped them fight back for a 1-1 draw via a Mohamed Hany own goal. Better was expected of Belgium versus Iran and there were encouraging signs as Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne went close. However, the 66th -minute dismissal of Nathan Ngoy complicated matters and they needed assistance from Thibaut Courtois and VAR to finish off with a 0-0 stalemate .
Iran keeper Alireza Beiranvand made two excellent saves from Maxim De Cuyper but head coach Garcia was left to moan: “We weren’t efficient enough.” Belgium went into this tournament with concerns about the fitness of Lukaku and the age of key figures like De Bruyne, but their form in qualifying and warm-up friendlies suggested they still had enough attacking firepower to make an impact.
Another distraction has been Jeremy Doku flying to London to be present at the birth of his son, Praise, but the Manchester City winger will be back available for this crucial clash. Doku declared on Instagram: “Thank you to the team for the support, now it’s time to get back to football and represent my country on the biggest stage.” It would be a fitting celebration for Doku to now deliver the goods and we like 11/2 for him to be the last goalscorer at BC Place , while 10/1 for the Red Devils to prevail 3-1 completes our New Zealand vs Belgium betting tips.
