Five-time world champions Brazil face Africa Cup of Nations holders Morocco in arguably the pick of the opening World Cup matches in New Jersey on Saturday.
Despite boasting some of the best talent on the planet, Brazil have not reached the World Cup final since last lifting the trophy in 2002 , suffering four quarter-final exits in five editions . They will hope Carlo Ancelotti , a serial winner at club level, can bring back the glory days but the Selecao face just about the hardest start possible in the new-look 48-team tournament .
Morocco enjoyed a fantastic 2022 World Cup , finishing top of a group that included Croatia and Belgium before knocking out Spain and Portugal to reach the semi-finals for the first time. Their run was ended by a 2-0 defeat to France but the Atlas Lions have continued to go from strength to strength and won their first AFCON title since 1976 earlier this year, albeit in controversial circumstances after final opponents Senegal, who won the match 1-0, were stripped of the crown after walking off during the match.
We think both Brazil and Morocco would be happy to pick up a point in this fixture and we’re going for a draw with BTTS @ 4/1 .

Form Guides
Brazil Form Guide
Brazil had a mixed start under Ancelotti and qualified for their 23rd successive World Cup finals as the fifth-placed team in the CONMEBOL section , 10 points behind arch-rivals Argentina .
Whether they can win a record-extending sixth title under the former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich boss remains to be seen but their form heading to North America is promising. They suffered a 2-1 friendly defeat to France in March but since then have beaten fellow World Cup participants Croatia 3-1, Panama 6-2 and Egypt 2-1 .
Remarkably, there were 10 different scorers in those four friendlies, with only Igor Thiago (with two penalties) and Danilo netting more than once. Thiago has had a prolific season at Brentford and he is 6/4 to score this weekend in our Brazil World Cup best bets, which is definitely worth considering due to his penalty-taking prowess. A Morocco defence which boasts the likes of Achraf Hakimi, Noussair Mazraoui and Issa Diop will not be easy to break down though, and a draw with under 2.5 goals in total @16/5 is our pick.
Morocco Form Guide
Since finishing fourth at the 2022 World Cup , Morocco have embarked on an incredible run which has seen them lose just three times in 57 matches . Excluding the AFCON final - Senegal have appealed against the ruling to award Morocco a 3-0 win - the Atlas Lions have not been beaten in their last 29 fixtures . It is a remarkable period of success, but not really surprising when you consider some of the talent at the disposal of Mohamed Ouahbi , who replaced the hugely successful Walid Regragui in March.
Morocco have played five friendlies since the AFCON final , beating Paraguay 2-1, Burundi 5-0 and Madagascar 4-0 in between 1-1 draws against Ecuador and Norway . Real Madrid striker Brahim Diaz was the top scorer in both AFCON qualifying and finals, netting five goals in each, and he could be the biggest threat to Brazil’s hopes of a clean sheet.
The 26-year-old is 4/1 to score in our World Cup tips today while experienced Olympiacos striker Ayoub El Kaabi , who has struck 25 goals for club and country over the last year including Champions League efforts against Real Madrid and Barcelona , is 3/1 .
