Tunisia
4. Tunisia @ 7/1
Having appeared in five of the last seven World Cup tournaments, the Eagles of Carthage will be looking to break new ground this summer by getting past the group stage after impressing in qualifying - dropping just two points in 10 games and not conceding a single goal.
Tunisia have at least picked up a match win at each of the past two renewals, beating Panama in Russia and then upsetting France in Qatar .
However, both of those victories came in the final round of fixtures after the damage had already been done and it will be Sabri Lamouchi’s job to try and ease any early nerves this time.
Sweden
3. Sweden @ 9/2
The Swedes had a shocker in their qualifying pool, picking up just two points in six games, but had the safety net of a place in the play-offs via a strong Nations League showing.
With English head coach Graham Potter now at the helm, Sweden seized that second chance with a 3-1 win over Ukraine, when Viktor Gyokeres hit a hat-trick, and a 3-2 defeat of Poland , thanks to an 88th-minute decider from the Arsenal striker.
Liverpool’s record signing Alexander Isak and Anthony Elanga of Newcastle are other big guns up front and the remaining areas of a solid squad are sure to be well drilled under Potter’s guidance, so after a bit of a lean spell, the Blue and Yellow may have come good at just the right time.

Netherlands
2. Netherlands @ 8/11
The Netherlands have history on their side, having been World Cup runners-up in 1974, 1978 and 2010, as well as reaching the semis in 2014 and the last eight in 2022, when only edged out on penalties by eventual champions Argentina .
Current head coach Ronald Koeman has helped to maintain the momentum, getting as far as the semis at Euro 2024, performing with credit in the Nations League and going unbeaten through their qualifying group for this tournament.
The Netherlands World Cup 2026 squad is strong in all areas, from a dominant defence featuring Virgil van Dijk , Micky van de Ven and Denzel Dumfries , through a balanced midfield including Frenkie de Jong, Xavi Simons, Tijjani Reijnders and Ryan Gravenberch , to an attack led by Memphis Depay , Cody Gakpo and Donyell Malen .
Japan
1. Japan @ 3/1
The Samurai Blue have featured at the last seven finals, making it through to the knockout stage on four occasions, including when topping a pool that included Spain and Germany four years ago – before only losing out to Croatia on penalties in the last 16.
Another fine qualifying campaign saw them finish above Australia and Saudi Arabia in one of the better Asian sections and Japan are really reaping the rewards of having had former international midfielder Hajime Moriyasu at the helm since 2018.
Familiar faces on the field include Ao Tanaka , Wataru Endo , Daichi Kamada , Daizen Maeda and Takehiro Tomiyasu , while it is hard not to be impressed by the recent form of Moriyasu’s men, who have beaten Brazil , England and Scotland in challenge matches.
