Celtic will attempt to end a miserable week on a high note when the Scottish Premiership leaders host second-placed Rangers in their final game before the international break. The Hoops boast a 100% record in the league but were booed by their fans on Thursday after slumping to a 3-1 home defeat to Ferencvaros in their Europa League opener .
That came just four days after Celtic were dumped out of the League Cup quarter-finals 3-0 by Rangers following a similarly limp display at Ibrox , and the concerns don’t end there for boss Martin O’Neill heading into Sunday’s Old Firm rematch.
He said: “The last time there was an international break, I think it was March, we played badly against Dundee United (2-0 loss). So I don’t want that to happen again . Sunday’s a big game. We will still be in front regardless of the result. But even so, we’d want to put on a proper performance against Rangers for the fans and for ourselves.”
