Celtic vs Rangers Prediction & Tips: Plenty of goals in store at Parkhead?

Celtic will attempt to end a miserable week on a high note when the Scottish Premiership leaders host second-placed Rangers in their final game before the international break. The Hoops boast a 100% record in the league but were booed by their fans on Thursday after slumping to a 3-1 home defeat to Ferencvaros in their Europa League opener .

Celtic v Rangers Prediction - Scottish Premiership 2026/27

That came just four days after Celtic were dumped out of the League Cup quarter-finals 3-0 by Rangers following a similarly limp display at Ibrox , and the concerns don’t end there for boss Martin O’Neill heading into Sunday’s Old Firm rematch.

He said: “The last time there was an international break, I think it was March, we played badly against Dundee United (2-0 loss). So I don’t want that to happen again . Sunday’s a big game. We will still be in front regardless of the result. But even so, we’d want to put on a proper performance against Rangers for the fans and for ourselves.”

The two rivals shared almost identical league wins at Parkhead last season - both coming from a goal down to win 3-1 - and we think bragging rights will be shared on Sunday too . Our prediction is a score draw @ 16/5 , with a price boost of BTTS and over 3.5 goals in total @ 6/4 .

Form Guides

Celtic form guide

Celtic have been as dominant as ever in the league , starting their bid for 15th title in 16 years with six successive wins . That has left them five points clear at the top of the table but cup competitions have been more of an issue for last season’s double winners.

The Hoops had led 4-0 on aggregate during their Champions League qualifier against LASK Linz only to be knocked out 5-4 on aggregate. Rangers then ended their League Cup bid in empathic fashion last weekend before Ferencvaros inflicted more misery on the Hoops.

Mika Baur levelled for Celtic but two goals either side of half-time from the Hungarian side sunk O'Neill's men. That was summer signing Baur’s second goal in three games for Celtic and the German midfielder is 9/2 to strike again on Sunday . Camilo Duran and Benjamin Nygren , who are Celtic’s leading scorers in the league with three goals apiece, are 5/4 and 11/8 respectively to score at any time .

Rangers form guide

Rangers are playing catch-up in the Premiership once more after making a poor start under Derek McInnes but they are the form team heading to Parkhead . The Light Blues had a miserable first month of McInnes ’ reign, picking up one point from their opening two league games and knocked out of Europe completely following defeats to Jagiellonia and Jablonec.

However, they have now won their last five games , and seven of their last eight with five clean sheets , including that impressive victory over Celtic . Rangers , as was the case with the Hoops last weekend, will not have any supporters in attendance on Sunday due to an away fan ban in Old Firm derbies this season.

This rivalry has produced some unforgettable flashpoints, so don’t miss our rundown of the top five most controversial Old Firm games ever.

How much that will affect the Gers remains to be seen, but we think they could add to Celtic’s problems by taking a half-time lead @ 12/5 . We also like the look of Rangers leading at the break with the match finishing in a draw, at odds of 12/1 .
