Manchester City may have snatched a point from the jaws of defeat at Everton, but they have surrendered their advantage in the title race back to Arsenal , who are now 1/6 outright favourites with BOYLE Sports to end their 22-year wait to be crowned champions.

City's Costly Slip-Up

City had looked set to consign Arsenal to a runners-up finish for a fourth successive season after clinically overturning a nine-point deficit to go top with last month's win over Burnley .

That ended Arsenal 's eight-month reign as frontrunners, but Mikel Arteta 's men have rallied. The responded to successive defeats against Bournemouth and City by beating Newcastle 1-0 and Fulham 3-0 to put the pressure back on Pep Guardiola 's men, who then suffered a potentially mortal blow in a dramatic Bank Holiday Monday night encounter. Due to their FA Cup commitments, City were in league action for the first time since beating Burnley almost a fortnight ago and took to the field at Hill Dickinson Stadium six points adrift of Arsenal but with two games in hand and still in control of their own destiny.

However, having been 11/8 to win the title before kick-off, they have now dropped out to 4/1 with BOYLE Sports after being held 3-3 by David Moyes ' side, and things could have been even worse for the Carabao Cup winners. City were 1-0 up at half-time thanks to Jeremy Doku 's goal just before the break, but Everton hit back to lead 3-1 with three goals in 13 minutes through Thierno Barry (2) and Jake O'Brien .

The visitors were facing a first league defeat in 13 matches but dug deep to grab a point, Erling Haaland pulling one back in the 83rd minute before Doku equalised seven minutes into stoppage time. That once again showed City 's fighting spirit, but the draw left them five points behind Arsenal with only one game in hand now.

Guardiola , whose side face Brentford , Crystal Palace , Bournemouth and Aston Villa in their final four league fixtures, said: "It's better to have a point than no point. It would be better to win the game than have the point. "It was in our hands before this game, but now it's not. Prepare for Brentford . We will continue and see what happens."
