Two months into the season, we are still waiting for a Premier League manager to leave their post, but it is just a matter of time before the first axe falls.
Three changes had been made by the end of October last term, so we’re taking a look at the favourites in the current Premier League sack race odds to see who might be vulnerable when the managerial merry-go-round inevitably starts up again.
Michael Carrick
MICHAEL CARRICK (MAN UTD) @ 8/13
Last season’s heroic effort to lift the Red Devils up to third place in the table after Ruben Amorim’s rocky reign must now feel like a lifetime ago to Carrick following some woeful performances this term. A run of seven games without a win has seen United slip to 13 th in the Premier League , suffer back-to-back Champions League defeats and crash out of the League Cup.
Carrick has had to contend with cutting comments from his own players and looked a forlorn figure following a humbling 4-1 loss at Como , so the 45-year-old now appears to be facing the same fate as every other Old Trafford boss since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
Alvaro Arbeloa
ALVARO ARBELOA (FULHAM) @ 100/30
The Spaniard arrived at Craven Cottage with a tough act to follow in Marco Silva and just a short and turbulent stint in charge of Real Madrid behind him, so the pressure was instantly on Arbeloa after a poor start to the campaign.
A first Premier League win will have come as a huge relief but Fulham made hard work of beating Hull 1-0 on home turf and if they continue to be wasteful in front of goal, the manager’s position will remain under intense scrutiny.
Pierre Sage
PIERRE SAGE (CRYSTAL PALACE) @ 7/2
After a successful stint with Lens , the Frenchman became another new Premier League head coach with big shoes to fill by replacing Oliver Glasner at Selhurst Park .
Top-flight triumphs over Fulham and Nottingham Forest , plus encouraging early efforts in the Europa League and the League Cup , gave Sage some breathing space, but there have also been some damaging defeats and a 5-0 drubbing at Brighton had alarm bells ringing.
Regis Le Bris
REGIS LE BRIS (SUNDERLAND) @ 10/1
Like Carrick , Le Bris began the season firmly in credit after guiding the Black Cats back into the top flight and then qualifying for Europe , but four straight Premier League defeats have left the North East club at the foot of the table this term.
A bright start in the Europa League has helped to keep spirits up, though, and the 50-year-old Frenchman is expected to be given time to turn things around on the domestic front.
Oliver Glasner
OLIVER GLASNER (NOTTINGHAM FOREST) @ 14/1
Glasner built up a good reputation at Eintracht Frankfurt before leading Palace to FA Cup and Europa Conference League glory and looked an excellent capture for Forest , but a run of three consecutive league defeats has left his new team second from bottom.
Worryingly, City Ground owner Evangelos Marinakis isn’t exactly known for his patience if things start to go wrong, with Nuno Espirito Santo being the first Premier League boss axed last term and later followed out of the exit door by Ange Postecoglou, Sean Dyche and Vitor Pereira.
