Bruno Fernandes has to be regarded as a worthy 9/4 favourite in the 2026-27 Premier League most assists betting market following last season’s record-breaking exploits.
The Manchester United playmaker surpassed the previous best mark shared by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne when setting up 21 goals for the Red Devils.
That incredible haul put Fernandes a whopping nine assists clear of his nearest challenger, even though he only broke his duck in this department in mid-October.
Upon setting a new milestone on the final day of the season at Brighton , the 31-year-old said: “It’s great, I feel very happy for that. It’s a very proud moment.”
Fernandes hailed the influence Michael Carrick had on his improved tally and will no doubt again be the focal point for United’s forward play this term, so that price is sure to prove popular.
However, for those looking to oppose the Portugal international, here are the players rated most likely to challenge for top spot in the assists table this time around:
Rayan Cherki
RAYAN CHERKI (MAN CITY) @ 7/2
The France midfielder took a while to establish himself at Etihad Stadium after arriving from Lyon last summer and 14 of his 33 Premier League appearances were as a substitute, but he made good progress to end up second in the assists table with 12. Cherki now looks well set as the heir apparent to De Bruyne , who won this award three times with City .
Bukayo Saka
BUKAYO SAKA (ARSENAL) @ 10/1
A series of niggling injuries hampered Saka last season, as he scored seven goals and posted just five assists. However, the England winger had averaged 10 a season over the previous three campaigns and will be expected to play a pivotal role in Arsenal’s title defence.
Cole Palmer
COLE PALMER (CHELSEA) @ 10/1
Scoring goals was Palmer’s main asset last season, with 10 netted compared to just one assist, but that feels like an anomaly after he set up 19 over the previous two campaigns. With new boss Xabi Alonso at the helm and good friend Morgan Rogers alongside him on the pitch, Chelsea will be looking for the 24-year-old to get back to those healthy numbers for assists.
Dominik Szoboszlai
DOMINIK SZOBOSZLAI (LIVERPOOL) @ 12/1
Mohamed Salah topped this table twice in the past five seasons, so the pressure will be on several Liverpool players to fill the void following his departure. To be fair, Szoboszlai did his bit last term by setting up seven goals, the same as Salah managed in his farewell campaign.
Florian Wirtz
FLORIAN WIRTZ (LIVERPOOL) @ 14/1
Like Cherki , Wirtz was a little slow to get going in his first Premier League season, with a huge price tag of £116million weighing heavily on his shoulders following a move from Bayer Leverkusen . His output clearly improved after Christmas, though, and a big step up on his three assists is anticipated.
Jeremy Doku
JEREMY DOKU (MAN CITY) @ 16/1
The flying winger made a bright start to his Premier League career in this category with eight assists during the 2023-24 campaign, so subsequent tallies of six and five are disappointing. A strong end to last term augurs well for a resurgence, though.
Martin Odegaard
MARTIN ODEGAARD (ARSENAL) @ 16/1
Odegaard managed to set up six goals during an injury-interrupted season last term, adding to the 25 he had racked up over the previous three campaigns. When fully fit and playing well, so much of Arsenal’s attacking play flows through the Norway international, who has definite each-way appeal here.
PREMIER LEAGUE MOST ASSISTS TIPS: We’re firmly behind Fernandes to retain his title at 9/4, with an each-way saver on Odegaard at a tempting 16/1.
