Matthias Jaissle’s men will now look to build on that against Bournemouth but will need to be wary of the Cherries’ impressive record in this fixture, losing just once over 90 minutes in six visits to Tyneside . Their last two league trips to St James’ have resulted in 4-1 and 2-1 wins and although they only have one point under new boss Marco Rose so far this season, it could just as easily have been six.
Brentford vs Sunderland

Brentford and Sunderland were two of the surprise packages of last season and both have made steady starts to the new campaign as well. Keith Andrews’ men humbled Spurs 3-0 before thrashing Birmingham 6-1 in the Carabao Cup and would now be on a three-match winning streak but for a late Dominic Calvert-Lewin leveller at Leeds last weekend.
Sunderland , meanwhile, bounced back from conceding a 90th-minute Jack Clarke decider in a 2-1 loss at Ipswich by beating Fulham 1-0. The Black Cats and Bees shared the spoils in last season's encounters, each winning their home matches, with Igor Thiago scoring three of Brentford’s four goals.

Fulham and Crystal Palace head into Saturday’s London derby at Craven Cottage still looking for a first Premier League point under their new managers. Alvaro Arbeloa’s Cottagers have lost 3-2 to Chelsea and 1-0 to Sunderland while Palace , for whom Pierre Sage has taken over from FA Cup and Conference League -winning boss Oliver Glasner , have been beaten 2-0 at Everton and 4-1 by Manchester City.
Palace have a fantastic record at the Cottage , winning five of seven visits since last tasting defeat there back in 2005, but the Eagles may be happy to return with a point this time.

Few would have predicted that, heading into matchday three, promoted Hull would be one of only four clubs with a 100 per cent record while Europa League champions Aston Villa were still searching for their first point and goal.
But that is the case, with the Tigers having stunned Manchester United 2-0 before snatching a late winner at Coventry , leaving them level on points with Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea at the top of the Premier League.
Villa’s plight would also have raised eyebrows, but is less surprising in the wake of a major summer squad exodus. Unai Emery’s men need a boost heading into next week’s Champions League opener at Club Brugge and just avoiding defeat at MKM Stadium could be a step in the right direction.
