2026/27 Premier League relegation predictions: Man City 8/1 for the drop!

Promoted teams always feature prominently in Premier League relegation predictions and this season is no exception. All three sides going up from the Championship went straight down again for successive campaigns in 2023-24 and 2024-25.

Sunderland and Leeds managed to avoid the same fate last term, but the new boys are back at the head of the relegation betting this summer. Hull only finished sixth in the Championship table before gaining promotion via the play-offs and are as short as 1/5 for an immediate drop, as happened to them in the same situation a decade ago.

Ipswich just edged out Millwall to secure second place and then had to contend with the surprise departure of head coach Kieran McKenna. However, his replacement Gary O’Neil has been given a helping hand with some relatively expensive recruits, including Brazilian buy Emersonn, Leicester forward Abdul Fatawu , Celtic front man Daizen Maeda , experienced defender Issa Diop and midfielder Florentino , who did well at Burnley.

Town are 4/6 for the drop, the same price as Coventry , who finished 11 points clear at the Championship summit under Frank Lampard . The Sky Blues have completed a permanent move for loan star Carl Rushworth , as well as bringing in Switzerland defender Aurele Amenda from Eintracht Frankfurt and Burnley winger Loum Tchaouna.

Sunderland to slide?

Black Cats to be brought back down to earth?

Despite finishing as high as seventh after ending an eight-year absence from the top flight, Sunderland are next best in the Premier League relegation odds at 3/1. The Black Cats saw several of their players perform well at the World Cup and have added veteran Belgium defender Thomas Meunier to the pay-roll, so it will take a big slide for them to prove one-season wonders.

Fulham are one of nine Premier League clubs who will begin this season under new managers and it is 11/2 for the inexperienced Alvaro Arbeloa to struggle after just a brief stint in charge of Real Madrid . Crystal Palace newcomer Pierre Sage has a big job on his hands to replace Oliver Glasner and the Eagles can be backed at 6/1 to fall, with Leeds quoted at the same price.

Glasner has switched to Nottingham Forest, who needed a spring surge to pull away from trouble last season and are 8/1 to go down this time, along with Newcastle , where Matthias Jaissle must steady the ship following the departure of several key players and head coach Eddie Howe.

Brentford and Bournemouth are 8/1 and 9/1 respectively in this market after exceeding all expectations over the past couple of years. Following back-to-back 17th-placed finishes, Tottenham have spent big under new boss Roberto De Zerbi and are 50/1 to go down.

But one eye-catching price is just 8/1 for Manchester City , who are still waiting to learn their fate over a long-running list of 115 financial fair play charges!
