It is that time of year when everyone is making their 2026-27 Premier League outright winner predictions – and we’re no exception.
Transfer comings and goings could yet affect the odds on offer, but many of the big question marks around each team can already be answered.
Here, we’ve ranked the seven leading contenders for title glory in reverse order:
Aston Villa
7. ASTON VILLA @ 33/1
The Villans were right up there for a long time last term before a sloppier second half to the season saw them ultimately finish fourth, although a Europa League triumph was ample compensation for that slide. Unai Emery will again provide rock-solid leadership, but Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans may be sorely missed.
Tottenham
6. TOTTENHAM @ 20/1
How is a team that has finished just one place above the relegation zone for the past two seasons ranked this highly? Well, new boss Roberto De Zerbi, who worked wonders at Brighton , made a good early impression to help save Spurs from the drop and he will have much more talent to play with this term, with Sandro Tonali , Mateus Fernandes , Jan Paul van Hecke and Andy Robertson all regarded as good recruits.
Chelsea
5. CHELSEA @ 8/1
Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior both went through the exit door during a 2025-26 campaign which ended with a disastrous run of seven defeats in nine Premier League matches. Chelsea’s scattergun approach to the transfer market has again been in evidence, although adding wise old heads Jordan Henderson and Danny Welbeck to big-money buys Rogers , Maxence Lacroix and Marco Palestra may help Xabi Alonso adapt to his first managerial job in England .
Liverpool
4. LIVERPOOL @ 5/1
Arne Slot went from hero to zero after last summer’s huge spending spree backfired, with the 2024-25 champions falling to a distant fifth. Andoni Iraola has been tasked with getting Liverpool back on track, but this is a far different proposition than helping Bournemouth to punch well above their weight for the past two years. On the plus side, the Spaniard has inherited a smart squad, especially with Florian Wirtz now fully settled in and Alexander Isak back fit.
Manchester City
3. MANCHESTER CITY @ 11/4
Following on from Pep Guardiola is some challenge but Maresca did have a couple of stints at Etihad Stadium working under the great man and did well enough in charge of Leicester and Chelsea to earn this chance. As with Iraola , he will also benefit from taking over a supremely talented squad, which was enhanced by January’s capture of Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi and made even stronger by the recent £116million move for Elliot Anderson . As long as Maresca doesn’t try to get too clever with any tactical changes, it is hard to see City slipping out of contention.
Manchester United
2. MANCHESTER UNITED @ 6/1
Michael Carrick was hailed as United’s latest managerial messiah after a run of 12 wins and three draws from 17 games propelled the Red Devils up to third in the table. However, a lot of those victories were by the odd goal and we all remember how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had a similarly bright start before that proved a false dawn. The current United squad is likeable, though, and this summer’s additions fit the new profile of targets, in that they are willing workers. A favourable early fixture list is also a boost, hence why they are just 9/2 to be top on Christmas Day.
Arsenal
1. ARSENAL @ 6/4
Hard work, defensive resilience and regular sprinkles of set-piece magic were the key ingredients to Arsenal’s first title triumph since 2004, but the feeling is that there is much more under the bonnet if Mikel Arteta decides to loosen the reins and let his creative players have more freedom to shine. With question marks hanging over most of the chasing pack and the nerves that surfaced during a tense run-in hopefully now long gone, the Gunners should go into their title defence full of confidence and ready to show that success breeds success.
