Paris Saint-Germain are overwhelming favourites to be crowned French champions for a sixth successive year but rivals may have taken a glimmer of hope from last season’s title race.
PSG still finished six points above runners-up Lens in the end but they lost six times along the way. Putting that into context, Luis Enrique’s men only suffered four league defeats in the previous two seasons combined, when they finished 19 and nine points clear respectively.
Here we take a look at who could challenge the two-time reigning European champions domestically in the 2026-27 season in our Ligue 1 outright winner tips .
Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain @ 1/8
PSG , founded in 1970, only won two titles in the first 42 years of their existence but the 2011 takeover by Qatar Sports Investments changed the face of football in France and Europe .
In the last 14 years, a stream of superstar signings have helped PSG win 38 domestic trophies, including 12 Ligue 1 titles, as well as reaching three Champions League finals, winning in 2025 and 2026. The big-name players have largely gone but PSG are now a greater force than ever, with a young talent-packed squad set to continue the club’s stranglehold domestically and further afield.
PSG have sold super-sub Goncalo Ramos to AC Milan for around £60million this summer but otherwise still boast the majority of the group that have been so successful in recent times.
Marseille
Marseille @ 11/1
Marseille are the second-most successful club in Ligue 1 behind arch-rivals PSG with 10 titles but only one of those has come in the last 34 years, while L'OM have not won a single trophy since 2012. They have finished runners-up four times during PSG’s period of dominance, including in 2025, but last season was a wash-out as the south-coast club finished fifth, 17 points adrift of the champions.
The 1993 Champions League winners have since replaced Habib Beye with Bruno Genesio in the dugout but the former Lille coach will have to do without both of last season’s top scorers, with Mason Greenwood and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang departing for pastures new.
Genesio will do well to get Marseille into atitle race but we think a top-three finish @ Evens is a realistic target.

Monaco
Monaco @ 16/1
Monaco are one of only two clubs to have finished above PSG in the last 14 years thanks to their 2017 title triumph, the other being 2021 winners Lille . Les Monegasques have also finished runners-up twice since being crowned champions, as well as third on three occasions, but mixed in with those seasons of prosperity has been plenty of frustration.
They avoided relegation by just two points in 2018 and were ninth the following year, while last season they could only finish seventh, 22 points behind PSG despite doing the league double over the champions.
Monaco responded by sacking Sebastian Pocognoli this summer after just eight months in charge and handing Filipe Luis the reins. Monaco will look to get back into the Champions League under the former Brazil and Chelsea defender and they are 7/2 to finish above every team other than PSG .
Lens
Lens @ 18/1
Lens have caused all-conquering PSG more headaches than many since winning promotion to Ligue 1 in 2020. Although they have generally finished around seventh place, Lens were runners-up in 2023 as PSG claimed the title by just one point, while Les Sang et Or were also second to the Parisians last year.
Dino Toppmoller’s side, who finished a massive nine points clear of arch-rivals Lillie in third, also won the Coupe de France for the first time in their history in May.
Lens are 13/8 to finish in the top 3 of Ligue 1 again this coming season, although this time they will need to cope with the additional demands of Champions League football.
Other top 3 odds: Lille 2/1, Lyon 13/5, Rennes 5/1, Strasbourg 14/1
