It’s that time of the week again! “The Greatest League in the World” is back to light up your weekend! In this post, our League of Ireland tips and predictions, along with our weekly acca, ahead of another weekend in the LOI Premier Division.

Given this is a European week, the Premier Division has a reduced rota for this weekend, but there’s no shortage of compelling action with an in-form Waterford hosting St Patrick's Athletic , the Louth Derby at Oriel Park and the Connacht Derby on Saturday.

In 2026? Expect. The. Unexpected.

LOI Acca Selections

LOI Friday Night #21 Acca Selections

Waterford vs St Patrick’s Athletic  –  Waterford Double Chance @ 6/5

Dundalk vs Drogheda  – Dundalk @ 8/13

Galway United vs Sligo Rovers –  BTTS @ 8/13

A treble with these three selections pays approximately 4/1 with BOYLE Sports .

Waterford vs St Patrick’s Athletic

Waterford vs St Patrick’s Athletic – Friday 8 pm, Virgin Media Two

Odds

Waterford – 15/4

St Patrick’s Athletic – 6/10

Draw – 14/5

Preview

Waterford’s impressive run under Graham Coughlan continued last weekend when they defeated Derry City 2-4 away from home following a brace from Lonergan, a goal from Amond and a clincher from Voilås . What seemed like a doomed club are now off the bottom and could even climb to eighth with a win, provided results go their way,

St Patrick’s Athletic may have games in hand over the only two sides above them in the table. However, if they’re to stand any chance of a title challenge, this is the game they must be winning, and so this could be a huge test for the mental strength of Stephen Kenny’s men.

Prediction: Waterford 1-1 St Patrick’s Athletic

Twenty-one points separate them on the table, and Pat’s may be unbeaten in their 2026 head-to-head, but I’m expecting a close encounter.

Best Bet: Waterford Double Chance @ 6/5

Dundalk vs Drogheda

Dundalk Drogheda – Friday 7:45 pm, LOI TV

Odds

Dundalk – 8/13

Drogheda  – 16/5

Draw – 3/1

Preview

Despite a positive 2026 season for Dundalk, they’ve now gone back-to-back defeats in the Premier Division after losses to Waterford in Oriel and to Shelbourne at Tolka Park. That doesn’t take away from what’s been a positive campaign for Ciaran Kilduff’s side, but if they want to keep their advantage in the race for Europe, they’ll need three points from the Louth Derby .

Drogheda have really not found their form from last year under Kevin Doherty, and that has them now back in amongst a relegation battle, something the club is no stranger to fighting. They’re now winless in their last eight games, with their last victory coming in their 1-0 win over Derry City at the beginning of May.

Prediction: Dundalk 2-0 Drogheda

The Louth Derby is always an explosive affair, but I think the formbook tips it in the home side's favour on this occasion.

Best Bet: Dundalk @ 8/13

Galway United vs Sligo Rovers

Galway United vs Sligo Rovers– Saturday 5 pm, LOI TV

Odds

Galway United  – 8/13

Sligo Rovers – 16/5

Draw – 14/5

Preview

Galway United’s perceived “overperformance” was one of the early stories of 2026 as they looked to prove wrong people backing them for the bottom spot. However, like most things, teams generally fall back to the mean of their ability, and now, with 22/36 fixtures played, they’re only four points off the bottom.

Sligo Rovers have fallen victim to the upturn in form from Waterford and are now bottom of the table on goal difference. The Bit O’Red have lost four of their last five league fixtures, and though John Russell looks to be active in the transfer market, they’ll need their new players to click quickly, or they will be in trouble.

Prediction: Galway United 1-2 Sligo Rovers

Two sides in serious trouble toward the bottom of the table, but I still think the away side have that bit more quality.

Best Bet: BTTS @ 8/13
