Bohemians are winless in their last seven following their 3-1 defeat at the hands of St Patrick’s Athletic last Friday Night. However, despite their recent poor run of form, they still find themselves fourth on the table, three ahead of Derry City, immediately behind them and only one back of Dundalk in third place. But there remains an air of unsustainability when it comes to their performances, and without an improvement, they will fall further.
Derry City made it back-to-back wins on Friday Night following their 1-0 victory over Shamrock Rovers, which has the potential to be a huge turning point for their season prospects as well as the future of Tiernan Lynch . Following four games unbeaten, it’ll be interesting to see if they can now turn their attention further up the table, but given the tightness of the league, nothing but a win can guarantee that.
Prediction: Bohemians 0-2 Derry City
Bohemians may be three ahead of their opponents, but I think the away side still have far more of an upside at the moment.
Best Bet: Derry City @ 3/1
Dundalk vs Shelbourne
Dundalk vs Shelbourne – Friday 7:45 pm, LOI TV
Odds
Dundalk – 13/10
Shelbourne - 8/5

Dundalk’s return to the Premier Division took a back step on Saturday when they lost 2-0 to Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds . That defeat shouldn’t curb the enthusiasm of both Ciaran Kilduff and his squad following a strong start to the 2026 season, and well in the mix in and around the European Places. Given the tight nature of the table, bouncing back from disappointment may be the single biggest measure of a team's mental capacity.
Shelbourne are simply not playing to the level that was expected of them in 2026, following a high-profile off-season where, on paper, it looked like they had considerably improved their squad. As it transpires, though, thirteen games into the season, Joey O’Brien’s side have only thirteen points and are in danger of the entire context of their season changing if they can’t find genuine form soon.
Prediction: Dundalk 1-1 Shelbourne
Dundalk may have been beaten by Sligo Rovers last weekend, but they’re having a solid season thus far and are performing far closer to their potential than Shelbourne .
Best Bet: Dundalk Double Chance @ 4/9
Galway United vs St Patrick’s Athletic
Galway United vs St Patrick’s Athletic– Friday 7:45 pm, LOI TV

Galway United – 3/1
St Patrick’s Athletic – 5/6

Galway United may have had a strong start to the 2026 season, but following a 2-1 defeat to Dundalk and being held to a 1-1 draw away to Waterford last weekend, their remains signs that said “form” was built off a foundation not too dissimilar to a house of cards. John Caulfield has done a tremendous job since his appointment in 2020, but he still has a job on his hands to ensure they avoid a further /relegation battle.
St Patrick’s Athletic are top of the Premier Division ! Following their relatively comfortable 3-1 win over Dublin rivals Bohemians last weekend, they’re now one clear of Shamrock Rovers in the table. Though there’s work to be done with 2/3 of fixtures played, the aim will be to stay involved at the top until at the very least the summer, where they could benefit from having a more free schedule when compared to their direct rivals.
Prediction: Galway United 0-1 St Patrick’s Athletic
Though John Caulfield has been getting a tune out of his side so far this season, the signs remain of an inevitable fall off, and Kenny’s Pats side should be able to pounce.
Best Bet: St Patrick’s Athletic @ 5/6
Shamrock Rovers vs Waterford
Shamrock Rovers vs Waterford – Friday 7:45 pm, LOI TV
Odds
Shamrock Rovers – 1/4
Waterford – 17/2
Draw – 9/2

Shamrock Rovers fell off the top of the table last Friday Night when they came out the wrong way in a 1-0 defeat to Derry City . Interestingly, if including their President’s Cup tie with them in March, it was their third time they’d faced one another this season, with two wins for Derry and one for Rovers, each game separated by a 1-0 win. It won’t be panic stations for Stephen Bradley, though, and they will be expected to assume regular service with a win on Friday.
Waterford rescued a last-gasp point following their 96th-minute equaliser against Galway United last weekend, which meant the game ended a 1-1 draw. Though the point would’ve been welcomed especially by manager Jon Daly, there is a sense that the point only postponed the inevitable, and five points from twelve games has them in huge trouble at the bottom of the table.
Prediction: Shamrock Rovers 3-0 Waterford
Two sides, with two completely contrasting expectation levels, expect a Rovers’ victory with more than a goal to spare.
Best Bet: Shamrock Rovers -1 @ 8/11
Drogheda United vs Sligo Rovers
Drogheda vs Sligo Rovers– Friday 7:45 pm, LOI TV
Odds
Drogheda– 10/11
Sligo Rovers – 13/5
Draw – 12/5

Drogheda may have ended their winless streak through a dramatic 3-4 victory over Shelbourne last weekend, but results elsewhere meant they still are second from bottom on the table, albeit only three back of Galway United in sixth. It’s hard to know just yet what their realistic aims for 2026 can be, but this fixture and their performance in such could tell a huge story.
Sligo Rovers looked in trouble in the early days of 2026, but there’s been a renewed sense of life in the club recently following back-to-back victories, coming 1-2 over Bohemians, 2-0 over Waterford and 2-0 over Dundalk last Saturday. With the weather and subsequent pitch conditions expected to improve further as the season progresses, it could all play into their hands for a surprisingly successful season.
Prediction: Drogheda United 1-1 Sligo Rovers
For me, there’s very little between both sides, and I can see them cancelling one another out on this occasion.
Best Bet: Sligo Rovers Double Chance @ 5/6
